I can't wait for this game, and I'm a huge MGS fan.
Unlike most though I don't mind changes in direction especially for Spinoffs.
One of the reason the majority of the REsident evil and MGS fanbases crying over Spinoffs irks me so much.
Same thing with the silent hill fans crying about that vita game.
Cone on people just try the games for what they are before crying over how they aren't like the originals.
Metal Geat Acid 1 & 2 are nothing like a real MGS game. But you know what? I would put both titles as some of my favorites of the series. Hell I put more playtime and had more fun with MGA2 than I did with MGS4.
When I see all the complaining, I just imagine people doing the same thing with Mario games.
"What Mario playing Tennis WTF"
Yeah seems a bit ridiculous when you think about it like that.
The only way I'll be disappointed is if Raiden is less powerful than in MGS4. If he can stop a super aircraft carrier (holding who knows how many metal gears), throwing once into the air is cake walk.
Yeah, I went there.
This game looks AWESOME, as of now I'm definitely doing a first-day purchase.
Everything else I've enjoyed, and I'm thrilled they're handling this.

Let's talk graphics, from the report on the trailer all the footage was in game which I have to admit looks very good and seems to run a decent 60 fpm. The down side is the colour scheme. Personally I find it to bright and I love the orignals use of metallic blue and Grey. It reminded me alot of mgs/mgs twin snakes and at the same time had a very seperate tone to mgs 4. Revengence has opted for more ambers in its scheme which is a style that further cements it's differentiation from the mgs franchise. Character model look very good and detailed but AI characters look rather bland and boring but to be honest outside of bosses that a issue all games including mgs 4 has suffered. The environment look very constrained which could indicate invisible walls and fixed arenas of play e.g. Ninja gaiden.
Gameplay from what we have seen is similar to the original and in some cases exaggerated. I'm talking specially about the whole metal gear ray fiasco. Now there are few ways to take this. 1 it's a load of shit and I dnt like it. 2. Wow that exaggerated but it looks amazing. The way I see it while spectacular it is rather inorganic an it feels like it was thrown in for the wow factor but at the same time it can b explained in a plausible analysis. Consider this the metal gear ray that you see in the game is actually smaller then that of mgs 2 and if u remember raiden in mgs 4 was very powerful and was to carry the weight of several mechs strapped to his ankle. So there is that to consider but I do not presume to know the inner working of that mechanic and whether it's to b taken seriously or with a pinch of salt... Platinum games after all. Now let's look at his weapon of choice his kitana, so far unchanged form the original although the mechanic of cutting everything has been limite. To note the position of his sheath has moved to his back (ninja) while originally it was at his side (samurai) which kinda goes against the whole boshido thing but hey creative license. There is also the disappearance of his short blade which could mean you find it later or it's not in the game anymore which is a shame. I read some where long ago that although rising wouldnt b like mgs where there would alot of different weapons there would have been one side arm and grenades. How accurate this we shall never know but what is somewhat evident it is likely Revengence will not b having much varity but that remains to be seen.
Now story seems like it was going to be an issue since It was announced and now it would seem there maybe and even bigger issue. Core gameplay and story are being handle but two different developers with to different techniques in story telling. Platinum's OTT style does not lend itself well to kojima's more ground of not at time outlandish tails. Plus there is a good chance that the use of motion blur and extreme close up which has made most of mgs drama all the more intense, may be done away with for more wide angles for grandiose set pieces. If the report are to believed that all cut scenes audio and acting will b handle by kojima which is a good thing. The bad thing is that if it's true then there could be a disconnect between gameplay and story. Also there is a chance that they maybe only overseeing the story aspect. It's not like kojima to keep secrets from us...
Anyway like I said I have no real idea what maybe behind closed door all I can do is speculate. I have nothing against platinum games except for its story designs (I returned bayonetta after 2 hours because I found there to be no story what so ever but good gameplay though) but what I have seen from the trailer mad not made me feel the way I felt when I first saw rising at e3. I remain quietly neutral for now, for all I know this could be and amazing games and I'm not afraid to admit that I am wrong. All we can do as consumer is play the game and see how we feel.

i wanna whistle in Raiden's pee hole
The original Rising is dead; the team didn't get their act together and it got axed.
This is all you get now. Deal with it.
I, for one, love this a lot more than the original concept.
The ending was the best part, although it does kinda make it painfully obvious that we will only be cutting with button presses instead of actually aiming the blade :(
