Also fuck the haters REVENGEANCE is the coolest word I have ever fucking SEEN!
Gotta say I fucking love it.
For as quiet as people say the MGS games are, they still had their over the top moments. So I think it's cool to see a game embrace that a bit.
Though IMO if Kojima is still over watching, I bet we'll get some of the slower stuff in as well that Solid fans are much more accustomed to.
Can't wait really hope this game is making a 2012 release
Granted I haven't seen the trailer because Viacom keeps blocking it, so maybe it really will be over-the-top absurd, even for a Metal Gear game.
@Jonathan Holmes, there need to be more of these kind of games. Although, I think any MGS fans will want to avoid this one.
Did you stop paying attention to this series after MGS on the PS1? :P
I'm glad they dropped the "Solid." I never thought that made sense considering it's not about Solid Snake (or Solid anyone as far as I'm aware.) The "Revengeance" is pretty silly though. I've actually never played a Platinum game, so I don't know what to expect. The trailer left me with mixed feelings too. A little too strong Shadow the Hedgehog vibes...
I actually havent thought that Platinum Games, games are actually that great. Id say mediocre. I think people tend to over-rate them for whatever reason.
Raiden wasnt supposed to be a cool badass character, but more of a tragic hero type who sacrificed his humanity to get the job done. It's a completely different mindset and feel of the character from MGS4. If Im right, it's still supposed to take place between 2 and 4? Plus having yet ANOTHER ninja is kinda not that good of an idea. The metal gear Ray fight looked pretty awesome though
I-I dont know. I just don't know.
Sure, all the games have their bombastic moments, but they know how to be subtle as well. I hope Revengeance carries on that tradition, as well as the other key elements of the Metal Gear series.
Otherwise, why call it Metal Gear?
The same reason they would make a movie called BATTLESHIP: THE MOVIE. :D
I fucking love it.
But, I better be fucking able to not kill bosses in Rising, otherwise heads will roll... Because I'll have to decapitate the bosses.
"Otherwise, why call it Metal Gear?"
I can see that argument for Devil May Cry - you drop the frame rate in half, outsource to a half rate non-Japanese developer, and completely revamp Dante without calling it a "remake".
But MGS? If it's the same, "war never changes" story, the same codec sequences, same country of origin for the developer (more hands-on from the producers), the same Jack/Raiden character, and a lot of the same series characters, I can see it working, and I can see why it deserves the MGS name.
Platinum Games may make shallow action titles, but Kojima's bros are overseeing it - it won't be all shallow.
I wouldnt quite say that. Ever played Lords of Shadow? It was really predictable story wise, and while not horrible, it wasnt exactly the best story told. It was an ok game, but not amazing like the Metal Gear games.
To me it's not even that much of a change in mood. In a universe with giant robots, clones, cyborg ninjas and a man taking another man's body through a grafted on forearm, suspending your disbelief at some gratuitous violence isn't that a big a stretch =P
