Metal Gear Online getting 'Meme' expansion, three new maps, two new characters photo

Yesterday, we were wondering why in the heck Konami were showing off Metal Gear Solid Online at Tokyo Game Show next week. Now we have our answer: they're bringing the second downloadable expansion with them!

Revealed in Famitsu this week, the "Meme Expansion" comes with three news map: "Silo Sunset," "Forest Firefight," and "Winter Warehouse." The names alone should give a good idea what what to expect for each; "Silo Sunset" may remind some of the Silo stage from the PlayStation Portable title, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

The pack also comes with two new playable characters, Liquid Ocelot and Mei Ling.

No details on price or release date, but seeing as how the expansion will be playable at TGS, we should know more soon.

Meme? As in, "I think Metal Gear Solid is a pretty cool guy; eh fights PMCs and doesn't afraid of anything"?

MGO was a huge disappointment. I'd hoped that Paytons influence would help it but it is still light-years behind western developed online multiplayers.

MGO.

You mean there are people still playing? I guess blind fanboyism can lead to masochism after all.

I laugh if it was a meme pack consisting of tired memes from 4chan.

I laughed at Edge of Blade's post, though not for same reason he might have.

How awesome would it be if all it added was the ability to play as a giant lolcat?

I'm sorry to say, but EVERYONE who still plays MGO saw this expansion(plus the name and characters and such) coming from a mile away.

Seriously, there's a trend. The first expansion pack was GENE, a nod to MGS1 and the intricate discussions of breaking past the limitations of ones genetic code. Plus we also got Meryl and Johnny(Akiba) who were introduced in that game(well, Johnny was kinda an easter egg of sorts).

This one now comes along, called MEME, named after the intricate discussion in MGS2 of what information can be passed on to future generations. First time we saw Liquid Ocelot, and Mei Ling was in a hidden easter egg codec conversation.

I forgot what the consensus about the third expansion was, but it'll have something to do with survival or something. Maybe LIFE? I think it was something like "SCENE" though...although that might have been the guess for the 4th expansion(if there is one).
