Metal Gear Arcade looks awesome, makes me sad photo

In most circumstances where the Japanese get something that we don't see in the US or elsewhere, I'm pretty bummed but accepting. The cultures are different, and the consumers demand different products than the mainstream in other parts of the world. These circumstances are just the nature of the beast and we have no choice but to be understanding about it.

Once in a while -- today, for example -- my gut instinct is to drop to the floor, flailing my arms and legs like an unsatisfied toddler in a grocery store, screaming, "IT'S NOT FAIR!" I've long lamented the decline of the American arcade and it's things like Metal Gear Arcade that pulls my long mourning into sharp relief.

Just look at these screenshots. Can you imagine being in a crowded room, holding a massive plastic gun and stealthily eliminating all resistance? Because I can and it hurts. Damn this culture and its desire to experience entertainment solely on its own terms, away from the prying eyes of others. I hate you all.

The combination of having to be up this early for a stupid reason AND knowing I won't be able to play this awesome looking game is almost too much to bear. Where's a good suicide booth when you need one?

I do believe we are seeing PlayStation Move's killer app

This reminds me of those Halflife 2 setups in Japan, too, with the futuristic deathmatch stuffs.

Pardon me - it was Halflife 2: Survivor.

My God I hope so! Personally The Move is packed with killer apps for me (Socom, The Fight, Killzone 3, LBP2 & even Sports Champions looks sweeeeeet)

But MGS Arcade would just end the Mo-Co war, like the bomb dropped on Hiroshima!

(Tastless comparison?)

I still have no idea why arcades are flourishing in Japan while the culture is very much dead in America. Oh, the nuances of societies.

No, because waving a plastic dildo will never EVER be the same as holding a full scale arcade gun.

The House of the Dead Wii ports proved this.

You know what, after laughing at all the silly Wii perhipherals, now we've got a Mo-co system with actual, proper shooting games, I would buy a plastic rifle which housed the move and the nav-con in a heartbeat. Specially if MGS Arcade came to move.

Still, I'd buy it for socom and killzone anyway.

You think the Wii remote and Move look like dildos? I guess you don't eat bananas, Popsicles, write with pencil or pen, or anything that looks like a big stick, huh? Anyways, MGO just needs to be updated into this. No need for a new $60 game.

@Oishidesu: While the comparison of a Wii remote to a marital aid is a stretch for me (more like a television remote control), the very first thing I thought of when I saw Move was this:

I would also note that it took me FOREVER to find an image of that where it wasn't in application.

Is it definitely confined to Japan? There's a MGS Arcade machine in my local arcade... Could be a different version though I guess.

They should release it on Xbox Live Arcade with Xbox Live Online play and Local LAN play (for when Xbox Live shuts down the Xbox 360 service in the future!) and Sega should do the same thing for Border Break!!! :)

Just go buy MGS4 for $20, and play Metal Gear Online. Same shit, with no funny apparatus.

I would be a lot more sad about not getting this out here if there was even a halfway decent arcade near my house in the first place.

Japan may get this game but we get to not get motion sick in first person shooters. I think we have the better deal.

So wait... these screenshots are new? Then what was the update to MGA? That update gonna come to MGO as well?

Or am I completely missing the point and this is a really slow news day that something like this can be front page?

I want to Japan 2 months ago and didn't see this game at all. When did it come out? I played the Gundam pod arcade game and saw Border Breakers, which is a new mech game that looks awesome!

@VashTS:

It came out either slightly before or around the same time MGS4 did. Basically, it's Metal Gear Online, but adapted to work with the arcade style setup. It's pretty cool since unlike MGO... THERE'S NO LAG!!!

... Also you can walk over and punch that douche on your team that was trying to choke you out the whole match...
