Metacritic lists the best reviewed games of 2009

Another day, another list of top ten games for 2009. We've had Time, we've had the Associated Press, and now Metacritic has joined in on the fun to list the best reviewed games of 2009. Unsurprisingly, PS3 exclusive Uncharted 2: Among Thieves takes the top spot.

Modern Warfare 2 manages to take two slots, while the PS3 version of Braid actually gets on the list too. Broken down by platform, Sony's black box o' Blu-ray had the best reviewed games all year followed by the PC and then the Xbox 360. In any case, here are the top games of 2009, as judged by Metacritic's review data:

 1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3) [Score: 96]
 2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3) [Score: 94]
 3. Street Fighter IV (PS3) [Score: 94]
 4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360) [Score: 94]
 5. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (DS) [Score: 93]
 6. Braid (PS3) [Score: 93]
 7. Street Fighter IV (Xbox 360) [Score: 93]
 8. God of War Collection (PS3) [Score: 92]
 9. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Xbox 360) [Score: 92]
 10. Forza Motorsport 3 (Xbox 360) [Score: 92]

So, those were the best reviewed games of 2009 ... unless something comes out in the next two weeks that absolutely blows the bollocks off of the collective games media.

Here's how the review averages look in terms of platform:

 1. PS3
 2. PC
 3. Xbox 360
 4. PSP
 5. DS
 6. Wii

Why can't we have more Lovecraftian horror games? It's such a great setting, but nobody ever uses it.

Best purchase I've made in a long time. This little remote controlled BB-8 robot by Sphero is amazing.

Philosophical question: if the only way to get Batman: Arkham Knight to run decently on my laptop is to lower all the settings and have it run windowed, am I really playing it?

Replaying Tales of Symphonia for the first time in years, I only just now realized how random the plot is. Our goals are decided at Lloyd's whimsy, while we get major revelations just 'whenever'. Still a good game, but I'm proud to be #TeamBatenKaitos.
