Another day, another list of top ten games for 2009. We've had Time, we've had the Associated Press, and now Metacritic has joined in on the fun to list the best reviewed games of 2009. Unsurprisingly, PS3 exclusive Uncharted 2: Among Thieves takes the top spot.
Modern Warfare 2 manages to take two slots, while the PS3 version of Braid actually gets on the list too. Broken down by platform, Sony's black box o' Blu-ray had the best reviewed games all year followed by the PC and then the Xbox 360. In any case, here are the top games of 2009, as judged by Metacritic's review data:

- Forza Motorsport 3 (Xbox 360) [Score: 92]
So, those were the best reviewed games of 2009 ... unless something comes out in the next two weeks that absolutely blows the bollocks off of the collective games media.

I just love how these flawed numbers end up becoming every fanboys defense force I had to take a crack at their gaping cracks sorry. I mean did it even occur to them the amount of software that came out on each individual platform no just the crap that drags each one down BWAHAHA
I'm glad that all of these lists even have a DS presence. Handheld gaming has come a long ways when it can sit with the big boy systems around the table for GOTY.

It's a shame that sales probably won't mirror this, because I am enjoying the hell out of my new, price-adjusted PS3.
And a "best average scores" list is worthless. The dominant system will always lose this contest simply due to the sheer number of games it receives. The least dominant system would win due to the last of "shovelware" games to drag the average down.

Reasons why the PS3 was listed #1 this year. Nothing more, nothing less. I doubt they were listed as #1 last year. These lists are true, obvious, and absolutely useless. Metacritic should leave the game reporting to our game sites. Stick with the #'s, guys. This will only lead to "My game only scored above excellent!!! Why is it not in the top 10 reviewed....RAWR!!" Plus, it's about as interesting as paint drying. Leave game journalism to the professionals please.

Well I'd say my day has ended quite nicely.
If it wasn't for New SMB Wii I would've hardly turned on my wii this whole year.
