Also, great deo by Mega64. I don't really have a stance anymore on the ME3 debacle, because I don't care. But I found this funny.
Like sometimes Shep is a psychic guy with an alien girlfriend who literally can't come out of her shell. Then other times Shep is a soldier lady with a different alien girlfriend who's also psychic and has severe parental issues. Sometimes different people are around and they do different things, etc. in general you get the point.
Yet somehow, the thing just never quite jumps the shark, does it? It never gets to the point where the joke gets old and people stop caring.
So nah. Can't complain about the ending. Because evidently, IT NEVER ENDS.
:)
It takes a robust world filled with variables and filters it to 3 endings. I personally think it's a huge deal for those that love the game. For example I love dark souls and demons souls. If the next souls game came out and had all the promise of the first 2, but ended up being super easy to reach a wider audience, I'd feel really alienated.
It's clear you don't care though ponce. I don't really expect you to change your mind if you really think the 3 endings felt proper, but maybe it's best not to make low jokes when perhaps a majority, or large minority of your readership feels strongly otherwise.
This. People forget that alot of those denouncing the 'Retakers' are also being kinda dickish about it.
Also, I love how once again this video demonstrates a lack of knowledge on the subject, as does pretty much every work I've seen denouncing the need to change the ending - I've been frequenting the Bioware forums since the beginning of the debacle, and the idea of 'no sense of accomplishment' has barely, if ever, come up. It's mainly been about lack of closure, thematic contradiction, rampant plotholes (which seriously, none of the denouncers ever seem to mention)and the fact that all the endings look essentially the same - I mean look at this!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPelM2hwhJA
Every time someone wails on the 'retakers', they concentrate on how they're acting 'entitled' or how it would set a dangerous precedent to change the work (which by the way, it really wouldn't - Arthur Conan Doyle, J.R.R Tolkien, Fallout 3, CD Projeckt, any of these ring a bell?)
They almost NEVER actually try to defend the ending on it's own merits, which makes me think that they simply can't find any.
The rest don't even seem to have played the game and/or the rest of the series - I mean, look at this guy on Gamesradar:
http://www.gamesradar.com/mass-effect-3-ending-why-it-vital-future-health-games-bioware-do-not-change-it/
He actually starts the article with 'I don’t know what the ending of Mass Effect 3 entails, and I don’t care. I haven’t even played Mass Effect 3 yet. Hell, I’m still working through the first one at the moment'
Seriously, Gamesradar? Seriously?!
Come now sir, that's not even true is it. Any time you've ever heard anyone talk about or support Indoctrination Theory, that right there is somebody taking the ending for what it is and giving it a critical reading, *like a grown up* rather then just looking at it and only registering different colours. It seriously winds me up when people say the only differences between the endings is R/G/B. As far as I'm concerned anyone who actually thinks that is a simpleton with no imagination who has no business enjoying anything Sci-Fi.
I would love all games to have brilliant stories, but it's not gonna happen anytime soon. If we demand a high level of competence for those game which have a speciic focus on story, hopefully sgtandards in at least that genre will rise.
If it turns out that Indoc theory is correct then, hurrah, Bioware fooled us, and all is forgiven. But as it is, the ending must be taken on its own merits, of which there are very few.
No. The haters constant bullying their mantra again and again is the pathetic ones. Not saying criticism is wrong. But the way a lot of those critics just go absolutely freaking overboard with the hate is absurd. That's what that video makes fun of.
Most people who were fine with the ending added no drama to it other than the haters imposing that they're offended if anybody disagrees with their train of thought.
IE- It's a freaking game. Sit down and stop freaking out over it. If you have complaints, write it in a way that doesn't sound like it's worth a true OUTRAGE.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I've given it some real thought and I honestly do feel pretty confident that I.T. is the one, and I made my ending choice(and actually felt pained to have to sacrifice the Geth), under the assumption that the child/harbinger was trying to break my will and stop Shep blowing the reapers away, but if it turns out that I.T. really IS just the clutching for meaning its detractors say it is, then yeah, I've got nothing and this games end becomes considerably emptier =p
Agreed. I'd really like to keep updated on that GR writer and see what is opinion is when he's slogged through two excellent games, and one 90% damn near perfect game, made dozens of choices, and become personally attatched to the character.
Any article/post on reddit that starts with "not finished Mass Effect 3 yet.." can go die in a fire.
Now I've just got to not read all the really ragey posts and get annoyed... damn why did I scroll down?
It's a 3min video everyone, calm down.
Brush off your shoulder and calm the fuck down. It ain't gonna kill you.
@everyone who hates Mega64
These are some of my favorite people on Destructoid lol. "I hate Mega64 and everything they do but I'm going to click on this post about Mega64, watch a Mega64 video, and comment on how much I hate Mega64." You could save yourself the trouble and...ya know...not watch the video.
Even when the video sucks, theres people complaining about those complaining that it sucks. Get it?
Most of Mega64 videos are dull. This is one of those.
As for everyone claiming this sort of mockery is "ignorant," "ill-informed," or whatever, Ponce mentioned the inbox issue. I've a feeling the tips line is -still- getting bombarded by ME3visionists on a daily basis, albeit a bit less now that things have died down a bit and you kids might get something akin to what you thought you wanted... I digress. My point is, it's hard to be "ignorant" of a given side when so much "information" is coming in regarding that side's stance. Heaven knows some of you can't stop commenting about it, regardless of Dtoid's actual news/story intake.
Has it occurred to any of you who are up in arms that maybe, just maybe, your position wouldn't need to be defended all the time if it had a leg to stand on in the first place? That maybe a stern, unified, more dignified front would gain more respect and recognition for the desire for a new ending than thousands of babies crying all the time?
Sure, there've been more constructive-appearing attempts to address the issue, like Retake Mass Effect, but they tend to be marred with this manipulative, spiteful undertone, rather than being respectful and forthright about things. Plus you've got rogue elements within the general movement that think things like calling the FTC and cupcake trolling are good ideas, because arguing a point like you learned how to on the internet always gets results.
If a respectable number of those actively seeking a new ending to ME3 had gotten together, organized a bit, and presented a clearer, less cacophanous case, there might've been a chance of getting what you really wanted. Instead, BioWare's just going to "explain" the ending they gave you, basically keeping in line with and elaborating the content they've already produced, rather than truly making anyone happy. Congratulations.
Sarcasm aside, I really want this issue to just go away and everyone on either side forget about it and move on with their lives. Trust me, I think you'll be happier individuals afterward.
I couldn't have said it better myself. Give Tony a break, he's not being a dick he's being realistic here.
I mean to me complaints about the ending to a game don't seem that bad, and even quite understandable. I haven't even seen the ending by based on people's actual concerns I see no reason to discredit or call them names. I mean aside from games blogs/outlets calling them whiners and coloring everyone's opinions for them.
