I think you're taking the internet rage thing far too seriously. I think most people, even with something as simple as FF13 going to Xbox, are being stupid and silly for the sake of it. They don't ACTUALLY give as much of a shit as they pretend to do. It's fun and games.
I wish people would stop using rape and suicide as jokes. As someone who's been affected by both, it makes me sick to my stomach.

But that's what I'm saying, Tony. You're taking them seriously when they're not even one bit serious. They're exaggerating and mocking their disappointment for comedy. They're mad, maybe, but maybe 1% of the madness they're conveying.
hyperbole on the internet, I'm not surprised. Suicide/death threats, while unfortunate when followed through, are almost always just some person shouting wildly. It also always amuses me when someone gets an email saying something like "I hope you die" and then they go on the news and cry about death threats. "I hope you die" is not a death threat, damn it.
Yeah rape and suicide aren't funny at all. This may be Mega64's worst video ever, or at least in a long long time. I came in prepared for chuckles, but came out with sort of a disgruntled frown. Just a horrible video.

I think you are giving these people way too much credit. I think that the kinds of people who write those kinds of things have minds like children. I think that most of them fully believe in what they are saying. The idea of Bayonetta 2 coming out on the Wii U really does invoke a murderous rage in them...for like 5 minutes. And once they have had their little murder tantrum, they calm down and go back to looking at pictures of upside down cats on the internet, or whatever else catches their limited attention. I just find it fun to laugh at them.

Didn't laugh out loud, but I also thought it was funny. Particularly when they were confirming each other's comments on the Internets.
Mikami made a flash game of himself committing harakiri. That was pretty fun. You got to cut his head off and see how far it flew.

Okay, I admit that I laughed a bit. Giggled. Chuckled. Whatever. Still though, why rape and suicide jokes? Really? They could've came up with something FAR better than that. Joking about suicide and rape really shouldn't be funny in my opinion. I actually don't find that right (despite that I laughed a bit anyway).
I don't think the joke was suicide guys. It was just a morbid device trying to make people realise how funny trash comments on the interent are. Not "haha look they all died" more like "haha look people on the internet really do say stupid shit that's completely divorced from reality".

Okay, wait, what makes this Mega64 video more shocking/offensive/tasteless than the Hitman prank they pulled on a crowd of innocent people? You know, the one where they staged an assassination to scare freak people out in a strip mall? It might just be me and my simple sensibilities, but making a skit that pokes fun of overreacting gamers is far less severe than straight up making people think they've just witnessed an actual murder.

I've liked most of Mega64's stuff in the past, but that was really tasteless. They took an easy joke about frustrated, entitled gamers and instead decided to trivialize suicide and rape. That's just so disappointing.
Yeah, I'm with RaunchyBulbasaur on this one. I didn't laugh, felt pretty grossed out and a little disturbed by it, but I'm suspecting that's what they were going for. I'm not totally sure on that though; it wasn't exactly handled with the finesse of good satire like Brass Eye, but subtlety's not one of Mega64's strong points. Good point, could have been handled better, I think.

They aren't trivializing murders though. They're SATIRIZING the assholes that actually DO trivialize rape and murder by carelessly writing that they will commit these acts because a video company did a thing they didn't like, obviously without being in actual state of mind required for committing these tragic and heinous acts. That's the real affront to decency.
Now I know you can't help being offended, especially if suicide and rape has personally affected you in a big way. I sympathize and empathize with you, because I know where you're coming from. I know what it feels like to have suicide be a thing in your life, but I also know where Mega64 is coming from. They aren't making fun of suicide/rape victims or their friends and families here. Why would they? That has nothing to do with their gaming-oriented brand of comedy. It makes no sense for them to do that. What is the intent? There's so much smug in these comments suddenly. I thought Dtoid was turning around for a second, but I guess I could be wrong.
Mega64 is not making fun of suicide or rape, there making fun of all the people who made those comments when they found out B2 is exclusive. For the people who think that this is there worst video cause they make of those serious topics don't understand the context from where they're coming from. We'll just have to wait and see what they say on there podcast on Sunday.

1. Bayonetta 2 might not be better than Bayonetta (you can still play Bayonetta).
2. If people stopped making such a big deal about it, the game is all but guaranteed to get enhanced ports and sequels it does well (as an early mature title on Wii U, it's guranteed to do well). Worse case scenario, you can just buy a Wii U which might not suck.
