I know. But I'M saying that I wish one of them would man up and actually do what they say they are planning on doing. At least I would respect them for going through with it.
QUOTE OF THE FUCKING YEAR :D
I think you are giving these people way too much credit. I think that the kinds of people who write those kinds of things have minds like children. I think that most of them fully believe in what they are saying. The idea of Bayonetta 2 coming out on the Wii U really does invoke a murderous rage in them...for like 5 minutes. And once they have had their little murder tantrum, they calm down and go back to looking at pictures of upside down cats on the internet, or whatever else catches their limited attention. I just find it fun to laugh at them.
I found the video pretty funny, I love when they poke the whole "gamer's pride" thing.
@Tahiri he said he would commit harakiri, which was translated as cutting his own head off, which later became a joke in Godhand.
Anyway, video was too dragged out. Something short would have been better. Some people here are complaining about the video making "rape jokes". I think they were just mimicking what people have been saying in response to the whole Bayonetta 2 fiasco.
But I would agree that it was a bit dark.
Is it because it was about murder and not suicide? Is it okay to joke about killing others, but not okay to joke about killing oneself?
@Kyousuke Nanbu, these guys make very funny videos, sorry if your salty towards them, pretty sure jim sterling has said some unsettling stuff in the past but that's neither here nor there
i guess we live in a world where social commentary has to be censored and should be rated e for everyone less we offend
Now I know you can't help being offended, especially if suicide and rape has personally affected you in a big way. I sympathize and empathize with you, because I know where you're coming from. I know what it feels like to have suicide be a thing in your life, but I also know where Mega64 is coming from. They aren't making fun of suicide/rape victims or their friends and families here. Why would they? That has nothing to do with their gaming-oriented brand of comedy. It makes no sense for them to do that. From the start it's apparent that they're playing internet rage-children characters, not rapists with intent. Destructoid is the home of Podtoid, yet it's this Mega64 video that finally crosses the line of "bad taste". Feel free to think that, but I'm only suggesting you might be coming at this from the wrong angle. I think since being offended is an impulse, you should give yourself a second before posting a comment. Ask yourself, is this really what they were trying to achieve with this type of comedy? What is the intent? Is the humor supposed to found in the fact that a character said something about rape, or is it supposed to found in the sheer ridiculousness of the fact that someone could say something like that and act that way in the first place? Usually, with people who know what they're doing (as is usually the case with Mega64), it's the latter. And know the style of comedy you're watching. It's Mega64. Off-brand quirky gaming-centric comedy.
Seriously, grow up. We're not 5. Let everyone decide their own method of humor even if it's that of a 12 year old.
And with that in mind, this is was pretty funny.
"I'm pretty sure the trivialization of suicide and rape is what they're making fun of."
Exactly, some people are incapable of understanding subtext...
1. Bayonetta 2 might not be better than Bayonetta (you can still play Bayonetta).
2. If people stopped making such a big deal about it, the game is all but guaranteed to get enhanced ports and sequels it does well (as an early mature title on Wii U, it's guranteed to do well). Worse case scenario, you can just buy a Wii U which might not suck.
