While the Mega Man Zero series will never trump the original in any way, shape or form, it must be noted that the series is actually quite popular and for the most part leans to the good side of good. The first four games in the series were released on the Game Boy Advance, and as such are out of reach for many DSi owners who trashed their GBA back in the day. As such people have been clamoring for a collection of those four games in one handy DS card.
Ask and ye shall receive, evidently. Capcom has set up a site for their upcoming Mega Man Zero Collection (or Rockman Zero Collection) on the Nintendo DS, which will be landing in Japan on April 22 for a price of 3,990 yen (roughly $43.83 USD). The Mega Man Network also points out that there may be more coming on the DS cartridge as there seems to be an extra space on the official site that could be the logo for another game.
This might actually be a good time to dive into some of the offshoot Mega Man series if the collection ever comes stateside.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Still, the series' greatest strength is just how fast Zero can tear through a level using different standard weapons. That's bitchin', as evidenced in this speedrun music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRMz03IGYOA
I could only find preowned carts anyways =/
I miss the original Mega Man X characters, especially Vile.
But perhaps it should be noted that someone beat you to this.:) http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/lucariotrainer13/mega-man-zero-collection-announced-for-ds-160641.phtml
But I'll be honest, I hated Z4. I didn't had the time to collect and try different combination of itens (that most of the time didn't made any sense at all) just to make the double jump or the high jump. Of course, we were free from the rank system, that kept you from getting the boss abilities, but getting those parts is much worse.
I enjoyed Mega Man Zero quite a bit, but I never got to the others, aside from the ZX games. This is relevant to my interests.
If there are decent enough bonuses to get this set, I may just as well swoop in, provided it gets released outside of Japan.
Also, I might pick this up, since I only have Zero 1 and Zero 3 (maybe Zero 4) on catridge. Plus, if there is a new game besides the Zero series, I'll have greater incentive
Zero 4 hands down gets my vote for favorite finale in any Megaman game, even if it takes place on another satellite on a crash course with earth. I just really <3 the conversation before the fight, as well as the music and the scale.
As far as story goes, you wouldn't think it considering it's a Megaman game, but the Megaman Zero series as a whole is actually one of the more finer uses of the Monomyth structure in videogames that I have come across.
