[Update: Logo added. Also, Capcom Unity's post on the new game mentions Ryu and Authur. Wait, what? Apparently there's a Gamespot exclusive video, but the internet is spanking their page. Try this HD version. It's quite good.]
Mega Man Universe was announced this morning. The latest in Capcom's long-running series will be a "revolutionary take on the seminal classic, setting course for a new chapter in classic gaming." Wow, that's exciting and vague at the same time!
"We are thrilled to finally be able to announce Mega Man Universe," said Kenji Inafune, Head of Research and Development Management for Capcom Entertainment. "This game will break the mold and challenge the conventional wisdom of what a Mega Man game can be. When fans finally get to see it, I believe they’ll envision their most far-out Mega Man dreams coming true."
They say that classic gaming will never be the same again. They also say that imagination is the star of the game. What the hell does this mean?
Mega Man Universe will come to Xbox Live and the PlayStation Store. We'll have to wait for dates and more details. Stay tuned. I'm guessing we'll see lots more at Comic-Con next week.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Anyway, I'm not gonna lie. I have absolutely NO idea what that trailer was supposed to be about. At all. I hope some actual details drops besides "your imagination" because my imagination doesn't really reach farther than Mega Man shooting the living hell out of everything. Maybe different versions of Mega Man, from X to Trigger to .EXE, but that's pretty much it...
:/
player-generated robots?
if=true, i=came.
Doubt it. I bet it'll be a nice Mega Man game and will be a great platformer, but I doubt it will break the mold of what a Mega Man game is.
The trailer really doesn't say much either. Is it going to be a museum game (a la Namco)? A brawler? An action adventure game(a la Mega Man Legends)?
Also, no WiiWare. :(
Mmo style I reckon. The trailer implies item slots to me. Get proto helmet with metal blade and zero torso. Crazy stuff like that.
I'm confused
More Details Please! :D :D :D
I appreciated the shout-out to the horrible MM1 box art, too.
User generated robots and stages, little big planet but Megaman Planet!
I guess
Nevertheless, I CRAVE MORE INFO CAPCOM.
Of course, that would just lead to awkward moments of weirdos molesting Roll.EXE or something
Also that claymation version of Mega Man from the original game's cover is probably the best thing I've seen all week
I am so glad I was wrong :D
