There's been quite a bit of fallout following the news of Mega Man Legends 3's cancellation, but if you want to find some of the best, look no further than the game's Wikipedia page. The page has had to be locked after fans bombarded it with hateful and angry edits.
"GOD WHY GOD WHY GOD WHY THIS ISN'T LIFE WHAT IS HAPPENING HUDSON DIES AND NOW THIS," read one particularly evocative addition. "WHAT IN THE JIBBLY JAM HELL OF HELL IS GOING ON."
Many edited in their own reasons for Capcom axing the game, including such delights as, "Because they hate their fans and money", "Because Capcom is run by Monkeys", "Because Capcom is run by spineless, hardline MBAs" and "Because Capcom is retarded and Superboy Prime hated the game."
One fan's theory was elegant in its simplicity: "Capcom is gay."
Something tells me people aren't too happy about it.

Between this, Ultimate MvC3, Ono talking about an AE 2k12 on Twitter after Super was the "final" version and AE was "final", DmC looking shoddy in action, Mercanries save game shenanigans and a bit of a meh looking Racoon City, I'm pretty much done with buying Capcom games new.
If their 2 new IP are as good as they look, I'll buy them used and not buy DLC or any shitty pass system.

I seen a fair bit of buzz. Nothing monumental, but certainly significant compared to a lot of games.
For me, I'm not even a fan of MegaMan as a whole, but the legend games are fantastic. This game was one of the major reasons why I got a 3DS.
Last night at midnight in japan rockman dash 3 was the number 1 trending topic on Twitter, so I was say ya people were excited.
Megaman Legends 2 ends with a cliffhanger. When the game ends, Megaman is stuck on the damned moon and Tron and Roll have to figure out a way to get him back. It is very clear that there was another installment needed to conclude the story.
Then for ten years we saw nothing... Outside of Capcom fitting Megaman Legends into a surprising number of games (see this version of Megaman in Namco X Capcom, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, and Tron in Marvel vs Capcom 2 and 3), we got nothing. We fans had resigned ourselves to the fact we wouldn't see the end of the actual story.
Then we're offered Megaman Legends 3. We have just enough time to think it's a real thing before the hope offered after ten long years is finally snatched back. Probably with some executive at Capcom giving a badly accented "Ha ha!" ala Nelson.
So yeah, we're kinda pissed.
I have moved on, moved on from Capcom.
I'm not saying BOYCOTT or anything like that, but with their upcoming line-up, I'm sure people will be accidentally boycotting them.

And they didn't even bother to release the prologue to see if their was sufficient interest to finish the rest (which I would guess they were pretty close to done with).
But maybe this was just another case of a company expecting 3DS sales to be stronger by now and adjusting things to make up for it.
You forgot how they force save files on us that cannot be deleted thus crippling any chance of starting anew.

If they wanted to move it to a digital format, they would have.
They did even. They had a finished 10 mission demo for the Nintendo eShop and they wouldn't even release that to test the waters.
It's very clear that, for some odd reason, someone high up in Capcom didn't want this game going ahead.
If they went the way of Hudson, I'd be fine with that (though I'd have far better memories of Hudson).
