Mega Man III now available on mobile phones photo

Capcom continues pimping the Blue Bomber, with Mega Man III releasing for cell phones today. Calling it a "faithful translation," the only real change is the addition of a savepoint feature that allows players to stop the game and pick it back up at a more convenient time. The game is available for Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T services.

As if anyone needed reminding, this is the first game in the series to feature Rush and introduces Mega Man's ability to slide. It's also the last time the Robot Masters made any real sense. You can practically see the designers starting to stretch with Top Man.

The mere thought of trying to control Mega Man with a phone's keypad makes my fingers curl up and seize. I can't imagine this would be at all fun to try and play, but I'm sure there's someone out there buying these because they keep putting them out. Is anyone actually going to pick this up?

I tried MM2 and it was pretty hard, but I think its more because

A) that was the first mobile game I tried playing and wasn't used to using my phone's keypad
B) that game is f'n hard anyway

I have since tried Prince of Persia Classic, Assassin's Creed (2D one) and Sonic The Hedgehog and all of those games are incredible to play IMO.

Wow, for a second there I though you said "Toy Man" and not "Top Man". Made me think of Chad

thinkin about it.

but every cell phone "d-pad" is pretty horrible for action games. Not to mention lots of them don't register multiple key presses at one time (or do it well, at least)

but, I'm thinkin about it.

I got MM2 out of morbid curiosity. The controls were horrible, and the movement just doesn't feel right. In addition, you get music, but no sound effects (at least in the version for my LG Chocolate). I will most definitely pass on 3, especially considering how many ways I can already play it, including on my NES.

I DIDN'T put a rom of this on my T-Mobile dash, and it plays pretty well, actually, but that phone has a ton of buttons. What's the price of this, just out of curiosity?

I shudder to think of fighting Yellow Devil in MM1 for cell phones. At least this would be MARGINALLY easier than that.

Ugh, I gave up on cell phone gaming when I was suckered into getting Ghosts 'n Goblins.

Egh, I have Mega Man II for my cell phone. It sucks bad. Do not want.

I would recommend Street Fighter II for the phone. Watered down, and hard to control if you've big fingers, but it's not bad for five minute stretches of time.
