Back in November of 2008 we showed off a trailer for a fan-made Mega Man movie that looked ridiculously awesome. Things went quiet after that for us here at Dtoid except for an all too brief interview at last year's MAGFest. Well, leave it to MAGFest to bring the awesome back yet again. The film was test-screened there this year and the audiences came out glowing, leading filmmaker Eddie Lebron to announce that the version seen there was practically the final cut and a premiere would be coming within the next 3-5 months, followed by the film's release online (for free) two weeks after that.
In a post on the film's site Lebron said that he was amazed by the positive buzz the film got coming out of MAGFest. In its current iteration the movie runs 109 minutes, so this isn't just some short little clip, it's a full blown movie. If you can't tell from the trailer a lot of effort went into this, and if Lebron is telling the truth about how much people liked it at MAGFest I can't wait to see the entire thing. The way I see it, if a guy can make Mega Man's goofy blue outfit look cool he has to have some skill.
If you're interested in seeing the final cut before anyone else keep your eyes glued to the Mega Man movie site as a new trailer will be landing with the release date and how to get tickets to the premiere. In the meantime just check out the badass posters for the film.
[Thanks, Morris]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
GASP AND ALARM, CAPCOM, STOP MAKING SENSE.
Oh, and Roll looks like a dude in drag.

Take a shot every time they talk about Japanese culture.
Ah yes the old "let's see you do better" argument. The ability to make something isn't a requirement for criticism. It helps, for sure, but that's like saying you have to become a president before you can criticize one.
All and all, I want this movie in my DVD or Blu Ray player.
The Wily they showed in that one trailer looks insane. I see it as this movie's (Dark Knight/Heath Ledger, Joker.)
Sure it doesn't have Avatar special effects or an Ocean's Eleven cast, but it looks better than most of the big budget video game inspired films Hollywood has attempted. Also, it looks to be using the source material, not abusing it.
In the year 20XX!
Hollywood didn't have a hand in this at all. If it sucks, then that's okay! At least the people behind this have played the games! They actually LIKE the material!
Overall looking forward to this though! =D

I really hope that was sarcastic D:
Hero of Time made me want to claw my face off after about five minutes.
Mega Man is left handed. Always has been
Dr.Wily is spot on though. He might carry the movie, like Ledger's Joker did in Dark Knight.
Plus, it's free! your getting what you pay for, so stop complaining about the CGI.
It wasn't bad by any means, and was very faithful overall. The guy who plays Wily is absolutely crazy and is the best part of the whole movie, definitely. He was an awesome actor.
I went to the panel last year at MAGFest and saw the extended trailer, and got excited. Eddie Lebron (the guy running the project) is really nice too. If I remember correctly, it cost him $50,000 out of pocket or something similar.
The final cut was cool, definitely. There are some corny parts but, honestly, if you keep your mind in perspective while you're watching the movie and understand the budget/remember it's a fan cut, the film is quite entertaining. That goes for the CGI and stuff too, which was all done out of this guy's house.
I enjoyed it, at least. Definite fan service, but lots of fun regardless. :)
@snukastyle
The Yellow Demon is in it. No little CG baddies, just the bosses, but the yellow demon is there. :o
The budget was actually $5,000. Man, the movie would have been muuuuch different with $50,00!!
