Mega Man Doom mod looks pretty great photo

Like Mega Man? Sure, who doesn't? Like Doom? Used to, at least? Well, how about a combination of the two? That's exactly the idea behind this Mega Man Doom mod.

It's an 8-bit deathmatch, complete with 8-bit textures and sprites. Mega Man's weapons will react exactly as they did in the 2D games, only in a 3D space. The plan is to have all the weapons from the first six games included when it's finally finished. The creator, Cutmanmike, is looking towards completion some time in 2010.

The mod is still in alpha, but you can check it out here. There you'll also find full instructions on installation. The creator reminds that just about everything you see could change before the game is finished. If the current screens are any indication, this could be pretty cool.

WOW. That's awesome.

I'm going to assume that Metal Blade is the BFG of this game?

What an awesome idea, looks like it's implemented nicely as well, but I'll wait for a later release before trying it myself.

I normally dislike anything Mega Man related, but this is pretty awesome.

That's friggin hot, but jesus christ is it going to be hard to make out what's going on. I should know, I made a few Sonic 2 levels in Quake 4 and it was a bloody nightmare.

This sounds cool in concept, but I have a feeling I'd want to throw up if I saw it in action.

So like...if your 2D character stands sideways is he invisible?

I'd rather have a single player version of this with all of the Mega Man enemies and such.

Hey, I know this guy! He made that really creepy "Ghoul's Forest 3" mod where you had to take on screaming skulls with a bow & arrow! In that regard, this project already holds much promise.

Army of Darkness sound mod and MST3K Servo mod flashbacks. Thanks!

Hopefully Capcom doesn't drop a C&D on this one, you know, because it's in Doom. :)

Awwww yeah. F'ing awesome.

Although I wish they'd have the weapons from the 9th game. Oh well. This is still more than enough.

Awesome but I really don't like how most surfaces have the same texture in the levels.
