According to popular Japanese magazine Famitsu, the highly anticipated WiiWare game Mega Man 9 will cost a measly 1000 Wii Points ($10) when it releases. Considering that the game is a completely original entry in the revered series and, comparatively, new NES games used to retail for around $40, this price point seems to be more than fair.
On another interesting note, Famitsu also hints that the game may include some form of downloadable content. Whether this will involve new stages, bosses, or weapons is completely unknown at this point.
More information about the game -- including a North American release date -- should be revealed at E3 next week. Since I would have sold my first-born to download this incredible-looking retro throwback anyway, $10 seems quite the bargain! Do you agree?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, please do release this on PSN! I'm adverse to downloading Wiiware on my Wii, for some reason.
But, I can't complain because, ya know. New official 8-bit MegaMan game that I would have sold my firstborn child for (granted, it would have gone for substantially less. Plus, I wasn't planning on having one anyways). That's a nice consolation prize.
Any chance that you'd be interested in a new 8-bit Final Fantasy game? I'll start learning to program now!
I expected it to be much lower, not that it really changes much.
Also, what Hoodie said.
Thank you for saying that. :)
but i guess i won't have to. cool!
i'd LOVE for new NES games via Wii Ware to become a trend. just think of all the 8-bit goodness that could be achieved with today's approach to game design.
Here's a comment that I've spotted about the new Prince of Persia, and its cell-shadedness. I hope you guys recognize yourselves while complaining about megaman:
"come on men. it take them 30 seconds to draw these picture. they are just too lazy to make it a perfect 3D. they too our money, and give us a cel-shaded animation. that wrong man. wrong. i just want it on 3d. they don't want to make it in 3d. so i guess metal gear solid 4 is the winner."
(sic, all of it)
Actually you're wrong it was EXTREMELY TAXING for them to make this game...
See a while back all their source codes for all their games got scattered across the land into hard to reach places and Morimoto had to go around and find them, solving puzzles and shit along the way.... (didn't actually happen)
