Mega Man 9 delight: Splash Woman and Plug Man revealed! photo

Do you see this devastingly beautiful thing I have put before you, ladies and gentleman? We are finally looking at the FIRST FEMALE BOSS in the history of classic Mega Man titles. Look at this bad bitch!

In an exclusive feature over at GamesRadar, character art for both Splash Woman and Plug Man was revealed, causing more than a flutter in this dear old retro gamer's heart. There are screens as well, which you can check out in the gallery -- check out that nice big shot of the sprites! That's freaking beautiful!

According to the article, beating Splash Woman earns you a weapon called the Laser Trident (which sounds completely rad) and beating Plug Man earns you the Plug Ball. No offense to Plug Man or anything (not that he should bother since you're going to stomp him anyway), but that Laser Trident looks light years cooler than the Plug Ball. Plus, the Plug Ball sounds like an anal toy. Not good.

We won't have much longer to wait until we can weep tears of delicious agony as these bosses and their levels cause us to die over and over. Are you ready?

as funny as plug ball sounds it looks like the better weapon to me. from the sprites it looks like the electro-balls are either heat seeking or can shoot at an angle. and remember how awesome the metal blades where in mega man 2 being able to shoot at an angle.

@ScottyG: If 9 is as difficult as they say, might I suggest Mega Man 1 or Mega Man 3 instead? Or at least put 2 on difficult mode. I just played through 2 again, and it was unnervingly easy. 1 and 3 are more of a challenge, 1 on the NES being possibly the hardest Mega Man game that exists.
I'm totally with you on 2 and X being two of the best though. X2 is my absolute favorite.

I'm ashamed to say that I've never beaten Mega Man 1. I really need to get on that. The damn cyclops guy destroys me every time, but maybe I'll have to wimp out and use the glitch with Elec Man's weapon and pressing start.

Yeah, I hear you about 2 being easy. When I got my HD tv I tested it out by plugging in my NES and playing through MM2, and I got through it in ~45 minutes. Mind you a lot of people seem to think that game is really hard, and the only thing I found remotely challenging is the disappearing blocks section in Heat Man's stage, and even then only because I can't be bothered to memorize all those blocks.

Never really thought of 3 as hard either, just damn long. One is the same way since there's no password system. Haven't played either in awhile though so I'm very curious how I stack up. Of course I'll have to obtain copies of the game, but it's a small price to pay. :p
