Mega Man 10 coming to PSN and XBLA, obviously photo

Really, was there any doubt? Mega Man 10, Capcom's freshly announced return to retro exploitation, is not just for WiiWare. The game is also coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network too, because that way Capcom gets way more money for recycling old sprites.

With the game revealed in Nintendo Power and no mention of a PSN or XBLA release, paranoid or stupid people may have felt that the game would be exclusive to Nintendo's white waggle box. If you are paranoid and/or stupid, then you can now put your mind at ease. Famitsu has confirmed that this will be a multiplatform game.

Who is looking forward to this game? To me, it's Capcom simply trying to rehash the exact same gimmick it had with Mega Man 9, but that's just me. I want to know what you think!

They can recycle these sprites as much as they want. Capcom knows what they're doing and this game is going to be the shit.

But I think every Megaman game is the shit, so...

*sings* I - am Mega Maaaan! I'm bluuuue - and cyaaaaan!

Seriously though, the Mega Man series' success is BASED on being "same old shit with new levels". The X4+ episodes were less well-received because people felt the old but perfect gameplay of the early NES installments was kindof gone. Then we all jerked off to the ZX series that felt like X/X2/X3, then to Mega Man 9 that felt like the 2nd. So I can't see why I wouldn't be anything else than hysterical knowing that a 10th is coming! :D

I'm both a hardcore Mega Man and Sonic fan, but let me say that while Sega doesn't know how to revive their iconic character over the years, Capcom sure does!

Perhaps they should do some actual work and make a nice HD Mega Man. They can keep all the same game mechanics but make something that doesn't look like 8-bit crap. I know there are a lot of retro-enthusiasts out there, but I like things to look sexy on my big HD television. Am I the only one who thinks this?

I'll gladly take a rehashed gimmick over the 90% of other Mega Man games that weren't.

I'd enjoy a full on "Muramasa" treatment Mega Man. Yes please!

But, I think the "rehash" goes beyond gimmick, and that they're continuing kind of a tradition of keeping the graphical gameplay style most the same, and exploring what you can do with that gamespace.

Its got Co-op (Allegedly). ENCHANTMENT!

I'm excited for this. Not as excited as I was with MM9, but that was mostly because it took me by surprise. Still am probably getting this though. I just wish they would arc the goddamn stories though (original and X).

@lewness No, you aren't. There's a metric shit ton of people that want MML3 to come out. Unfortunately, they won't give him funding for it. Inafune even wants it. So if anyone wins the lotto soon, PAY THAT MAN!

No, I loved Legends too! It was quite another genre, with Mega Man as lead character in some action-RPG, very well done in my opinion. I remember having a blast kicking that can around in the market, haha.

Megaman X is just the first in the "X" series of Megaman games, which is called that because the main character is named "X".

As for MM10 coming to XBLA and PSN, of course it's coming. I'm sure Capcom likes actually making money.

I'm down for one more go at the retro.

Now, the next one had better be hand-drawn HD awesome. Capcom owes us that - and better yet, do that "Capcom-character-man" boss scheme. Strider Man, Hadou Man, Vampire Woman...it's PACKED with win.

Megaman is predicated on repetition. If this wasn't fact, he'd be able to duck by now. Also I never understood people confusing MMX for MM10 after playing it, or even reading about it. When it was released, my mom managed a Blockbuster (5 free rentals a week, by the way), never played video games, and I heard her explain it to a customer one day that X is the robot's name. I asked her how she knew that and she said she read the back of the box.

A lot of us don't care how it's the exact same thing as every other Megaman game before it, just with a different sequence of jumps and enemies, and shuffling the weaknesses around. That's all we need. Same goes for the Zelda series. When people really like a formula, they don't mind if it doesn't change. Clearly a number of customers like this product just the way it is.

I can't wait to go through another 8 Robot Masters. Day 1 download for me.

For a $15 game, Mega Man 9 gave me hours upon hours of enjoyment. It was easily better than most games I've paid $60 for. I bought like 3/4 of the DLC (except the harder difficulties) without a second thought, and I'm incredibly happy with the game even now.

Calling it a gimmick to go back to the 8-bit style kind of ignores all the loving detail that went into this game. From callbacks to old stages with new twists, to fanservice-y details in the little cutscenes, this was not some rushed or sloppy nostalgia cash-in game. It's cool if Mega Man is not your thing, but let's not write it off completely.

Needless to say, I'm buying MM10 the moment it hits XBLA.

While 9 was cute and a throwback, for this sequel, I rather wish they'd make this one 16-bit style. I loved Mega Man 7 on the SNES. Plus, um...I never finished 9 cuz it was too damn hard. I suck at 8-bit MM games.

I don't see the problem. For a while, both Capcom and Sega were making mediocre games in once-great franchises. Capcom chooses to go back to basics and ends up making some great games, Sega stick to their guns (thusfar) and make poor games.

Sega get heckled for making shitty games, Capcom get heckled for recycling. Oh the irony. I bet half of you idiots complaining Mega Man 10 isn't 'innovative' enough will lap up whatever COD sequel Activision-Blizzard decides to shit out next year.

If they would make a SNES-style version, I'd prefer if it was in the X style with the dash-jumpy gameplay than in the 7 style... the gameplay was more sluggish and you could still only slide even if your character sprite was much bigger, it felt weird.

I would prefer a Blazblue-style HD Mega Man 10 for the PS3 with the heart of the old games but with a bit of innovation and ingenuity to make it all fresh again.

However, I strictly prefer NES-style MM 10 over not having a new true Mega Man game at all. So.. YAY MM10!!!

I love that they're doing this. My only problem is that when Mega Man 9 came out, everyone said that Capcom should keep doing the same type of thing, but I find it strange that people are already complaining about it. As long as the level designs are good, and the bosses are fresh, does it matter that they have the same sprites? I don't know, I just don't understand peoples complaints about it I guess.

"To me, it's Capcom simply trying to rehash the exact same gimmick it had with Mega Man 9, but that's just me."

I'm with you %100 on this Jim. Personally I didn't care for 9 because I felt like they were just taking advantage of the nostalgia people had for the originals. I'm all for 2D Mega Man and using what worked from the earlier titles, but leave NES graphic were they belong. Also, my personal issue with the game/series, focus a little more on doing something that doesn't rely on trail and error for "challenging gameplay"..

@ Dexter345- What? Why pick on me when there are so many other people in the room that like Mega Man 10's look? I wasn't even in the room!

Actually, I would have preferred it if Mega Man 10 looked a little different from 9, like if they shaded all the characters just a little bit more, maybe up to TG-16 level detail. Still, it could be worse. I'd rather they stay 8-bit than go the "Mega Man and the Secret Rings: UNLEASHED" route.

I'm with Jim. They've done there cute/lazy little 8-bit gimick with Mega Man 9, now Capcom should move on. There's only so much you can do with 8-bit graphics and there are plenty of interesting things to be done with modern 2D graphics.

I'm not with Jim in this one, i really look forward to this game and i truly believe 2-D NES sprites is the best way to go with a Mega man game, i might say mega man X is also a damn cool series.

Of course Capcom will cash in, but MegaMan 9 was a pretty awesome experience, if they can top that i'll be happy.

I'm a megaman fan, so might be biased.

Rehashed, recycled, cute/lazy little 8-bit gimmick?! Objection! Not quite.
Mega Man has already spawned many iterations... Capcom has simply brought Mega Man back to his glorious 8-bit roots. Mega Man 9 and 10 are incredible fan services and I applaud Capcom for their efforts.
I can not wait for this next installment. Bring it on, Capcom. And thank you.
