Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking "ZOMG THIS IS A BLATANT RIP-OFF OF TEAM FORTRESS 2! PLAGIARISM!" I don't blame you, either. The over-the-top multiplayer combat, the class system, the art style, and even the sense of humor all seem taken right from Valve's popular shooter. I can't even justify it. The "inspiration" is clear as day.

You know what though? It doesn't matter. The game looks like mad fun and seems like it'll be a perfect addition to Xbox Live's "Summer of Arcade" season. In this industry, it's fun that matters, and Monday Night Combat looks like a boatload of fun. End of debate.

I dunno. It lacks "taste" TF2 has. I know, i know - jarate doesn't sound like "good taste". But, strangely enough, it is more "elegant" then what is seen in the video. Like a TF2 for pre-pubescent kids or something like that. Or closer to the "scary movie" versus, i dunno, "airplane" for example

The cheesy buttrock and annoying voice actor didn't really do it for me like TF2 does :(

I'm trying to figure out why anyone would play this over TF2. By this point you could get the entire Orange Box for $20 - one of the best gaming deals of all time.

I could think of one demographic. An Xbox 360 owner who has no gaming PC. Team Fortress 2 was poorly supported on the 360 port. MNC may be different and do what TF2 couldn't.

I'm sorry I just can't stand the character designs. I think they look rather bad and lacking in personality.

I'm really excited for this game, and will probably buy it day one (After trying the demo), but damn. It clearly rips off TF2 in the worst way possible. In TF2 the classes all have personality. The Sniper in TF2 is a more quiet fighter, but is proud when he succeeds, the heavy is an over-confident brute, the soldier is the gruff war vet, etc. In Monday Night Combat, they all just look like a bunch of screaming 12 year olds. I really didn't understand much of what the sniper said.

I'm not quite sure what else Valve does to make the classes in TF2 so memorable, though. Maybe it's because they all have different accents, and they all look so radically different. But really, if you're excited about this game and haven't played TF2, go buy it. Now. It's got a black, one-eyed, Scottish explosives expert as a class.

@Ace829:
As true as that statement is, I'd still rather play TF2. That's just my opinion though. I'm sure this game will be fun in it's own way.

The game looks really fun. A little different than TF2 in terms of actual gameplay, though. It won't be as good as PC TF2, I love class-based shooters. Killzone 2 is my favorite.

It's like it's a complete rip off of TF2 except not funny and doesn't look all that good.

Wait that's exactly what it is.

This game is actually a combo of TF2, Smash TV, and Defense of the Ancients(or League of Legends. Having actually played it, I can confidently say that this is a great game and actually plays nothing like TF2. There is a lot more going on then your average shooter with turret placements, sending robots after your opponents and the power-up sponsorships make this a vastly different game

So the Sniper is the Scout?

I don't know how balanced a sniper can be with close combat skills.

i think its a ripoff designed to get the people who have no idea that tf2 exists. the sad thing is, all of those dumb "Gamers" who only play cod and madden are going to think tf2 is a ripoff.

It lacks the amazingly funny and quirky story that Valve has put in place. If anything this is just more of a joke then TF2 was to be of the modern shooters. So my thoughts are kind of split on it. When I first saw it on XBL it looked "OK" but after this trailer it kinda made me cringe. I'll still try out the demo though and if it's for me then ok I might buy it with Microsoft's imaginary money system via XBL. I am a PC gamer though so I'm not worried about letting go of TF2 just to play this arcade game.

Quiet you people.

How this game plays out will be interesting, if they intend on giving it events as with 1vs100 then it will likely fail and be dead within a year (like 1vs100) unless the devs really did a good job with the gameplay.

Valve can hardly be expected to keep TF2 up to date on three platforms with their appauling time-keeping now can they? The news about Portal 2 on PS3 hints that they may be gearing up to better support consoles, at least on PS3.

Basically, Microsoft suck.

Be polite, be efficient, and plant to kill everyone you meet.

I can kind of see the similarities to TF2 but hey, I'd give it a shot. If I had a 360 that is.

This Sniper was not polite, not efficient, and he did not plan to kill everyone he met.

But really, I'll give the demo a shot, if just because the earlier trailers made it look interesting. But one thing I liked about TF2 was that all the characters were twisted murderers, but they were different kinds of twisted murderers. The Sniper is quiet (until he starts dominating you), the Demoman is loud and rude, the Pyro is well, a Pyromaniac. Meanwhile, these characters, well, they all come off as loud obnoxious boasters, and guess what? The Scout's personality is my least favorite in TF2.

Oh god. The sheep come out o' the woodwork. Well, given that I don't mind Jim voicing his opinion and generally support it (even whilst disagreeing sometimes) it won't be a surprise that I'm interested in this game.

On the other hand, I'm with the sheep in calling the lines the corniest shit with the lamest voice actors since... Heavy Rain? No? Perhaps Arc Rise Fantasia is a better comparison.

George Broussard, creator of the greatest vaporware title of the century, may have been on to something with "even bad press is good press," but it also seems to require quite a lot of buzz in the first place for bad press to be effective.

ie. Hit game has sequel, sequel changes everything. Tons of people upset about changes. Game comes out, and gets high review scores, tons o' people buy it. Bad press helped, because it got people talking, even though the game was good all along and the fans were short sighted to believe otherwise.

This title hasn't nearly any buzz to speak of, so it sucks that they didn't put their best foot forward on this video. Gonna suck if I plunk down the Allards on this XBL title and find there is no playerbase within 40,000 kilometres.

Looks like TF2 but without the funny. Don't get me wrong, I'd love another cartoony class-based shooter with an emphasis on fun and personality, but it matters nought if your personalities are all annoying and forgettable like this guy.
