Media Molecule has launched its online "LittleBigWorkshop," a collection of online tools designed to help LittleBigPlanet level designers with their creations.

The workshop is broken up into three parts. The "Workshop" room houses videos of creations, along with author notes. The "Inspiration Room" is a series of images to help jog your brain into creativity. And finally, the Blueprint Room is a tool which can be used to sketch out potential level designg by dragging and dropping shapes.

I've had LittleBigPlanet in hand since before it hit shelves, but I have to admit I haven't spent much time with it. For sure, it's a highlight of this holiday line-up (for any console); I just haven't had time for the game, much less to spend time building a level.

Has anyone been messing with LBP level design, and do you find these online tools to be helpful? If not, what would be helpful for you?

I've already been sketching out my level ideas anyways, and after just perusing that blueprint room I can safely say I'm going to stick with my sketches. It allows me to better visualize what I'm going for... It's cool that they have stuff like this online though...

As for the actual LBP level designing itself, unfortunately I haven't really done too much work on my levels. I've been hooked on Fable II, and I've still got Fallout and Gears to get into, but I think I'm going to jump back into LBP before I start those last two up. I did a bunch of the "story" and all of the tutorials in LBP, but I got crazy-addicted to unlocking items and was putting off getting too much deeper into the actual creating portion. I'll remedy that soon...

That's awesome to hear you guys are working hard on original content. When I finally get around to digging deep into the game, there should be a lot of great stuff available. So, sometime in 2009 when I get some free time, I expect to be impressed!

There is some cool stuff there but I'll just be sticking to paper and pencil as well. Some of the videos look like they may come in handy. But for now, back to the drawing board!!

I had an AWESOME level 95% completed in the beta but then the beta corrupted my save file and destroyed almost everything. Five days of hard work down the drain. :(

I'm currently working on remaking everything with the full (and hopefully stable) version.

Oh, and the blueprint thing looks cool for inspiration but nothing beats pencil and paper for jotting down ideas.

I spent about 3 hours going through the tutorials and building my first level. It turned out great and is a blast to play. This whole level sharing thing is going to be kick ass if taken seriously, which judging by the comments we should be seeing some pretty amazing stuff. Great work D-Toid

It's weird how fun it is to do that sort of play/build at the same time thing. It's like Legos. Fun as hell for no good reason. Sometimes it's just fun to make a big metal square and crush yourself.

Even if you don't think you'll want to make a level, you definately should check out the tools and do the tutorials - by the time you get all the tutorial trophies, you might find yourself inspired. Oddly enough, I did.

I'm finishing Fallout 3 before I start building anything. After finishing story mode I've had a few level idea's, let's see if I have the patience to complete any of them.

I'd rather that they let us take apart a few of their own levels as examples. I really want to know how to do some of the stuff in the third level with all the ghosts.

I'm currently rebuilding a level I didn't quite finish on the beta. I doubt I'll be using this work shop, but I'll check it out.

I'm seeing inspiration everywhere for some interesting levels, I was watching Apocalyptica the other day and I've decided to make a level based on it. It's gonna be the goriest, heart yank-enest level ever!
