Media Molecule rounds up the best LittleBigPlanet levels photo

While we've been off living our crazy lives, a dedicate community has been hard at work designing mind-blowing levels for LittleBigPlanet since pretty much day one. Developer Media Molecule has played all of the good, non-copyright-infringing ones and wanted to give props to the necessary guys and gals.

The 2009 Sackies, as they're strangely calling it, gives recognition to the greatest LBP creations. It's no surprise to see such levels as NeoGAF's Little Big Contra, or that insane working calculator by Upsilandre, because they made headlines on most of the major gaming blogs upon public release.

Of course, there are videos to go along with the winners. You ought to avoid watching them if you hope to make anything productive in LBP ever again -- they really are that good. Is it possible to indefinitely ragequit a game of this nature? I don't see why not.

Voting for the year's best level, which will be decided by you, hopefully after you've tried out every one of the candidates, is now open.

THIS

Too bad they started restricting replication of other IP's in the game.

Maybe that's changed since then, but.....yeah.

Also, Little Big Colossus.

Meh...half way through those clips I just stopped...I just really don't like the gameplay of the game. If they had married this with Super Mario World style platforming, then I would say this could have been game of the century.

thanks this article is about you not liking the game, this isnt related in any shape or form to the incredible amount of creativity put in those levels

btw you sound like you havent even played the game

"Meh...half way through those clips I just stopped...I just really don't like the gameplay of the game."

why did you had to watch those videos to judge the gameplay? if you dont like the game you didnt have to do that, and if you havent played the game, why are you critizing the gameplay?

Those are some awesome levels. Hats off to all those would be level designers who dreamed them up. Well done.

I agree with laggerific. The concept of the game seems brilliant, but nothing of the gameplay itself has screamed anything but average to me.

clearly there are some people who care more about what a game can do for them than what they can do with a game like LBP. I don't even play the game that often, but to the best part is that it's perpetual. all games have DLC in the form of a new campain, character, or costume, but LBP shines because even without the level kits the words "replay value" have no need... because you could play every single day and never replay anything (aside from the disc). it's what you can do with it, and while not everyone can be dali on a canvas, mozart on the keys, or freddie mercury on the mic, it's still fun to "play, create and share" nonetheless.

...but killstreaks are fun as well.

Seeing what users can do with this game gets me excited for how much awesomeness ModNation Racers is also going to have.

Great minimalist designs. I'm a firm believer in the k.i.s.s. design method. After all, most of the biggest sites on the web use minimalistic designs, like Google, eBay, Amazon, etc. As long as it's a good user interface, minimalist design is a great choice.
