You've already heard about the LittleBigPlanet delay due to references to the Qu'ran on the game's soundtrack. At the end of last week, Media Molecule addressed the issue, promising release dates and details as soon as possible.
Fresh from Media Molecule's page this morning is the new release dates. In the U.S., you could see the title on shelves as early as October 27th. Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand will see their copies starting November 3rd. The UK has confirmed a date of no later than November 5th. Finally, Japan's date of October 30th has not changed.
Media Molecule promises "some great content" on their site in the coming weeks as a way of saying thanks for your patience. I don't know what it is, but you can bet it will be racially neutral!
If you're hoping that the beta will be switched back on, give up hope now.
Lots of people have asked us to switch on the beta again and we looked into it at length, but now that the delay to the game is only a week, it just wasn’t technically possible to get new keys out, bring back the servers, and so on. Besides, we’ve working on some cooler ways of connecting with you lot directly, that can include those who weren’t able to get beta keys.
Aw, you can wait a week for your Qu'ran-free LBP, can't you?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
the two big current are sunni and shia, and one of the sub-currents of sunnism is malikism(originating in morocco)which is very moderate and tolerates the use of some quranic verses in madih(religious chants).
but the game being a worlwide product sony couldn't just ignore middle eastern traditions and beliefs.
They've already addressed the patch issue by stating that not every PS3 owner was connected online.
Yes they could have.
I would think LBP would be a pretty boring title without access to the internet...
I can wait another week, more Dead Space time!

"Tapha Niang" from the 2006 album Boulevard de l'Independance by Grammy award-winning Malian kora player Toumani Diabaté.
The Song's available on iTunes FFS. You can even listen to the track in its entirety on Toumani's MySpace page.
What mix said. If it bothered them that much they could stick a warning on the front, saying 'get the patch or you might be offended'.
Anyway, do you honestly think that many people who would be seriously offended at something like hearing quotes from the Koran in music form will be playing LBP?
You can't just generalize/stereotype the type of people that will be playing certain games. It's not that easy.
That would be almost a two-week delay for us, then....good to see the UK is still getting the shit end of the stick when it comes to getting our hands on a game which is made in GUILDFORD, ffs....
No, but you certainly make an estimation, which naturally involves making some assumptions. Simply, my opinion on it is that I would be utterly amazed to find more than a handful of such people playing the game.
There will of course always be complete idiots who look for any excuse to be offended and throw a hissy fit, using violence to 'resolve' their problems. I don't include them in this argument.
In some ways I could sort of understand if the artist in question was doing intentionally to piss people off, but this guy is a world reknowned Muslim artist, it's clear he doesn't mean any offence by it. And nobody made any fuss about the song beforehand!

"Some of you have asked about pre-orders and early copies. Everything should remain as before - you will get your exclusive pre-order content, we’ll go on patching the game, and everything will work as if none of this had ever happened! I think in the end, everyone will be happy."
