Medal of Honor Limited Edition packs Battlefield 3 beta photo

All of a sudden the "Limited Edition" version of Medal of Honor just got a hell of a lot more interesting. Publisher Electronic Arts has announced that it will come packed with access to the beta for DICE's upcoming shooter, Battlefield 3.

What do we know about Battlefield 3? Well, not much. We haven't even seen the game yet, and I'm pretty sure it's not even a game that EA has officially confirmed outside of comments from an EA exec back in 2009.

"I've had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product," said former EA chief operating officer John Pleasants.

Want to know more? Let's cross our fingers that we'll hear something soon, possibly coming out of gamescom, which takes place next month. Medal of Honor launches on October 12; no word on when the Battlefield 3 beta begins.

Let's sure hope Battlefield 3 is like, you know, Battlefield 2. Now THAT was a game I loved.

3 already? I've barely played BC2 yet. I'm like level 10.

Cashwhoring is FTL when people don't want to buy your games because they come out too quick!

I can't really see what could be improved in BC2 as far as gameplay balance. That game flows so smooth.

Quite literally, even if Battlefield 3 is just Battlefield 2 with better graphics and new maps, it will instantly become my game of the year.

@Schmo0zle - Battlefield (BF) and Bad Company (BC) are two different series. Both are made by DICE but BF2 came out almost 5 years ago.

Also @klops, cry some more dude. A game should only be on your system of choice because then it won't be SULLIED by those INFERIOR systems? Elitism much?

@klops why do you feel the need to insult console games >:/ that statement was unnecessary and more than likely they will release it multi-platform like BFBC2 and so on which I dont mind so everyone can enjoy.

Maybe they should concentrate on fixing the crap they have already released! BFBC2 has been busted with every "fix" they have released. The performance is terrible, the lag and rubber banding is enough to me most people never want to give EA another dime!

They release crap games with pretty images, but they do not address the real issues that continue to make BFBC2 perform like crap! Their many "patches" have made this game unreliable and unstable. EA, fix this before releasing anymore games! I won't give them any more of my money since they seem to hire inferior programmers and developers who couldn't even program Ms. PAC MAN!

They honestly want me to purchase a limited edition for a beta after everything that has happened with the MOH beta for 360? I don't know whether to laugh or cry. This is pathetic. Maybe this time they will restrict certain guns to game-types as well! Then that FREE DLC we get will unlock them for us in the other game-types! But only after the patches break the game! :D

Feel the same.

If BF3 was a PC Exclusive I would purchase MOH for the beta... but then they would decide to make it multiplatform halfway through development and it would still get nerfed.

BFBC2 seems to work fine for me. I pray that BF3 is multi-plat so I don't feel inclined to drop the cash for a gaming rig. Just in case anyone feels like jumping in about how affordable gaming rigs are, I remember seeing an article here a few weeks ago rejoicing that there were now "affordable" DX11 graphics cards. Those cards still cost more than a 360 or PS3. That is not my definition of affordable.

512 mb? What are you talking about? Have you finally came out of your cave? This isn't the PS2, Gamecube, or Xbox 1 age anymore. We are now in the Blu-ray age, where the PS3 can hold 50 gb.

@Oishidesu: He is talking about RAM. Not the size of disks. Please at least show intelligence in the simplest of computer technology. Ps3 only has 512 MBs of ram.

and you know why PCs need more than that? because of background apps, there's a ton of shit happening in the background on a pc whereas there isn't on a console due to it all being poured into the application that's running (the game).

OHH SNAP! Battlefield 3 is still real? I mean I heard stuff a while ago but I figured EA gave up when Bad Company 2 came out.

Please don't consolize it EA... Keep prone, open huge fields, and 64 players.

@Samwise...

Umm yeah right... Only wrong. PC games generally have better textures and use about 1 gig of system memory (Depends on the game) ON TOP OF vram on the graphics card.

Consoles on the other hand are limited to 512 split between the CPU and GPU. So PC would use about 1 gig on the system and 1 gig on the GPU... While the consoles use 256 mbs for the CPU and 256 for the GPU.

I own and love my consoles but lets be honest here. They're no where near as powerful as a PC. My PC can actually get 1080p @ 60 fps and not some half assed resolution upscaled to 1080p at a choppy 30 fps.

@Iron Dragon, ok fair point, been out the PC gaming loop for a while due to money issues and my laptop loving to overheat even when idle.

I'm not even gonna notice true 1080p anyway due to running a 22" anyhow, even if it says it runs 1080p it's not true 1080p :/

@Samwise: You missed my main point though man :(. I wasn't saying that background aps don't get in the way of pc gaming, (but Iron Dragon is right rigs usually only use about 512 to 1 gig of ram anyway for system operations depending on how many programs you have at start up) it was that Oishidesu had no real idea of what he was talking about. Ennosir refered to the fact the ps3 only has 512 MBs of ram. And for some reason Oishidesu went to thinking he was talking about the size of disks.

@Samwise

To each their own I guess. I'm on a 23 inch 1920 x 1080 monitor right now with my 360, PS3, and PC hooked into it and I can definitely tell the 360 games are upscaled to 1080p. Bayonetta has a great frame rate but there are noticeable jagged edges around everything.

Still I guess PC gamers are just a little upset. We want Battlefield 3 to be all it can be. No one on the PC wants to see another Bad Company. They're fun and all but the maps are so tiny, without prone I feel like a sitting duck against snipers and vehicles. It felt less objective based and more like a deathmatch.

There's no reason to limit a great series like that.

@Iron Dragon Then again, it isn't BF3. Nothing wrong wrong with differentiation when doing spin-offs. Otherwise, how different would it be from BF2 besides the destruction?

Honestly, Dice scares me. First of all, why are they shitting all these games out so fast? It felt like just yesterday Bad Company 2 hit, and don't get me wrong, I loved Bad Company 2, but now it seems like they are dropping support for the game and moving on to Medal of Honor. You could bet your ass that they will drop Medal of Honor when they start the hype train for Battlefield 3, and then the cycle will continue with a Bad Company 3.

They need to STOP shitting out modern combat games every half year and do a better job of optimizing the games that are out. I loved Bad Company 2, I'm in the Medal of Honor beta and while I know I will love the single-player, the multiplayer doesn't do anything different from Modern Warfare 2 and the thing that pesters me the MOST about Medal of Honor and Bad Company 2 is that they STILL use the same shitty menu/server browser. You know the one, hit refresh, get 13524352 results back with 1000 ping and sift through the bullshit to find something with a less than 100 ping and hopefully click on that server before the entire browser shifts it out of reach because their designers weren't smart enough to implement a "STOP" button as an alternative to Refresh/Get New List. Seriously, its been this way since Battlefield 1942, in the pantheon of stealing ideas/design from other games, for the love of god Dice, steal a server browser from Valve or something.

Good point there, Dare. I can only use the BC2 server browser because I can search for 'ON3', the name of the host closest to me. Favourites and History have NEVER worked for me in that game.

I actually would like to see this one be pc only. The core Battlefield series has always been pc-centric, and while I generally dislike people bitching about games being 'dumbed down' for consoles (I rarely agree with that assessment), I do feel that games can play very differently depending on your platform, and really should be designed and balanced as such. I feel BC2 has suffered from being multiplatform (mostly in the weapon balance aspect), and it seems unlikely to me that they'll design two+ versions of BF3, so I hope for pc only. Its not like any platform is exactly starving for modern combat games...

@ Dare365

To be fair to Dice they've had a separate team working on BF3 for a long while now. It's not the bad company 2 team. Even like 2 years ago I think they brought up that they were working on 5 battlefield projects (Bad Company 2, 1943, Heroes, BF3, and something else).

Also I really think Medal of Honor was handed off to them in an attempt to fix it last minute. The shooter is way below the standards of anything dice has ever made and has EA LA's stink all over it.

Not going to get MoH for BF3 beta. I played Medal of Honor beta and the game plays like poop and not due to beta bugs but just the way the game is.

BC2 is fun, but it is a console game first and PC game second. Battlefield 3 is a PC game first and only slightly possibly a console game. I mean battlefield 2 on the 360 was pretty bad.

Battlefield 3? 2 didn't even make sense, but I suppose Vietnam could count as an Expansion. This game is totally not 3, though. You have 2142, and both Bad Company games to contend with. Just call it BF: Subtitle.

Finally i'm sorry guys the Modern combat and bad company versions have been fun but it hasn't been the complete experience...

And people complaining about pc elitists don't understand the difference it makes im hoping it will be pc only as well... Not cause i don't enjoy playing em on my consoles but because there was more depth and bigger scale to the games.

And @KingSigy If it will return to the pc versions scale and depth it is the true sequel to BF 2...

Please, please, PLEASE ... PC only.

Bad Company 2 was fun and all, but it's not the Battlefield I know and love. Having to adjust the game to console controllers means no more intricate little shortcuts, tons of options, etc that made BF2 and its predecessor great.

That and DICE isn't exactly known for low system requirements. Multiplatform usually means inflated system requirements and that, combined with DICE, means you'd need at least 3 PC's to run this game properly. That, or the graphics are tuned down.
