After many long days and a bunch of angry Tweets, the Medal of Honor beta has graced the Xbox 360 with its presence. If you happen to have a key for the beta, you can go here to trade it for a redeemable Xbox LIVE Marketplace download code.
It doesn't look like DICE is citing a reason for the delays, although this is a beta we're talking about here. These things tend to happen on occasion, you know?
And, no offense to the team -- they make some pretty terrific multiplayer games -- but I can't remember the last time DICE launched a game without technical issues, at least during the first few weeks.

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Except not.
the first one is ordinare, with no extra content but it has beta it says?
http://www.game.co.uk/Games/Xbox-360/Shooter-First-Person/Medal-of-Honor/~r345455/?s=medal%20of%20honor
then next one is limited edition with extra content, same price... says nothing about a beta key here?
http://www.game.co.uk/Games/Xbox-360/Shooter-First-Person/Medal-of-Honor-Limited-Edition/~r350644/?s=medal%20of%20honor
and then last tier 1 edition with all extra things + m60 weapon, wich the limited edition doesn't even have? WOOT? limited edition doesn't have all????
http://www.game.co.uk/Games/Xbox-360/Shooter-First-Person/Medal-of-Honor-Tier-1-Edition-/~r350655/?s=medal%20of%20honor
and also same price on ALL 3??? Doesn't come any more confusing as this, why they have to make it this confusing I must ask???
It has a class system which has pre-set weapons (which change depending on your faction), and I haven't heard anything about being able to change which weapon (IE Assault Rifle) you use; but you do unlock attachments for them.
Marines have M16 and the "other guys" have an AK-47 for example.
It's a lot better than MW2 and the explosion effects look great.
I think the direction of this game from the beginning, for multiplayer, was some kind of COD4, BFBC2 hybrid. EA is gunning for COD in a major way which means adopting some of the same characteristics such as: easy to pick up and play, fast and consistent gameplay, killstreaks (much more blatant), etc... And lets face it, a LOT of games have been gunning for COD in the last few years.
With EA's repertoire of shooters I think they firmly believe they have put together the perfect formula to knock COD of its throne. Of course only time will tell. Bad Company 2 already did this for me, but I suppose it might have been too methodical for some? I dunno...
It doesn't have the fancy gunplay of MW2.
It doesn't have the vehicles and large scale mayhem of BF:BC2
All it really has right now is decent sound effects. I'm not going to write off the singleplayer as I may yet still like it.. but the beta so far has been terrible. Game plays like it came out in 2002.
However, I still love CoD. Very love/hate. When my team and I are playing Search and get 10-15 wins straight, I love it, when it miraculously gives host to the worst connection player in the match and everyone starts running around with grenade launchers I have to shut it off or I might break my disc.
The funny thing is, if IW got around to fixing One Man Army and Scavenger, fixing some host issues, and weakening danger close, it would probably be my favorite multiplayer game ever. It's freakishly close as it is, for all its flaws.
I think you hate CoD because you suck at it.
The core gameplay of mw2 is fun, if a little simple and repetitive but the killstreaks and perks killed it for me.
Dice haven't let me down yet.
I'm not really a huge MW2 fan either, but man is this game awful. The engine feels extremely dated, the accuracy/precision are very off, it lags when you die, the vehicles are extremely stupid on these maps. Everything just feels second rate. It's as if DICE didn't want this to out-do Battlefield BC2. It's so horrendous... and I was actually looking forward to it.
it just...doesn't work.
The only positive I can say is that it has great sound design.
The E3 multiplayer videos looked great - why is everyone saying the Beta looks like dump? Is it a different version of the game we will be beta testing?
The weapons feel a bit iffy, the sound effects feel a little weak, the hit detection seems all over the place; one minute im a sharpshooter the next I can't hit the side of a barn door. The lag was terrible for some reason, even though it's all on servers and the ping read 32.
The kill streak system is pretty cool. You have to choose between an airstrike or a UAV. The symbol for this on the PC was still the xbox d-pad. The system is pretty decent too. The way its like Battlefield meets Modern Warfare. You have the Advance/Retreat objective based gameplay of BFBC2 but on a much smaller scale and at closer quarters like MW2.
It has some good ideas but the execution on the PC is really bad. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a terrible port. I'm just glad I got the beta for free, unlike BFBC2. Still, I'm bummed there's not the expected support for BC2.
