MechWarrior 4 plus its expansions for free? It's happening photo

There's nothing greater than being able to obsess over the revival of a series you love, which sadly doesn't apply to me and the recent MechWarrior announcement. While everyone got to reminisce about the grand times they had with the series, my nostalgia meter was sad and empty.

But wait, this story has a happy ending! According to Shacknews, the MechWarrior rights owner Smith & Tinker is allowing MekTek.net to distribute MechWarrior 4 and all of its expansions for -- get a load of this -- absolutely free. Oh joy!

While the details on when such a package will be made available aren't yet known, you can bet that we'll be on the lookout for any new information as it hits. I'm excited to see what all the fuss is about; how about the rest of you?

Read about it in Puppy Licks' cblog, but damn, I'm not one to resist the call of a free game. And hey, it's something relatively new for me, so further the nonresistance. =P

Gonna need to clear up space on my computer though, argh...I hope this is released soon.

Never played any of the mechwarrior games. guess this is a good way to check out the series. Any idea of when they will release it?

I died a whole lot when I used to play the Mechwarrior games. Looking forward to doing it all over again! Not sure that I played #4, actually.

I had MW2, MW3 plus first expansion, and MW4. I only beat MW3, never beat MW4 because it suddenly just stopped wanting to start in XP, god I hated XP.

I just found my entire MW collection and will most likely fire MW4 up with all the expansions and add-ons I got back in the day.

Ever since I heard about this, and the upcoming Mechwarrior game I dug through my old CDs and found my copy of Mechwarrior 3 its a great game, newcomers beware that its a SIM action game, not really an FPS... hope the new game keeps to the same roots.

Mechwarrior 2 and expansions or get the fuck out of my office with that shit. Mechwarrior 4 had the most shit acting I've ever seen in FMV cutscenes. Fucking terrible. And the gameplay was average at best compared to the Mechwarrior 2 series. Mechwarrior 2 DAMMIT.

Though, you can't argue with "FREE"...but still, Mechwarrior 2...

DAMMIT.

Sooooo all over this! Never had a chance to play 4. Loved all the others though. 3 held up well in my eyes even though 2 was so great.

@Roager: No clue. The site says "and its expansions" so if anything, every game related to MW4.

mechwarrior 4! great game, easily the most accessible, although suprsingly deep. Hafta get it again, although i don't have a joystick anymore.
