Mechromancer is the "most hardcore" of BL2's skill trees

With less than three weeks left until its release, Borderlands 2 had by far the most popular booth at PAX this year. After giving media and fans a chance to go hands-on with one of the arena side quests, I grabbed the game's producer, Matt Charles, to ask him about the epic side bosses we can expect, Gearbox's plans for DLC, and his thoughts on that whole 'girlfriend tree' thing.

"There is no such thing as a girlfriend tree," Charles says. "We built the Mechromancer to be a very flexible character. It is the most hardcore set of skill trees that we have in the game, so to say it's like 'easy mode' or something, that's just not true at all."

Hardcore, you say? Well, looks like my second playthrough is set for October 16. Who else is excited for the Mechromancer?

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel's Jack the Doppelganger is too sexy for his shirt

I frown on the idea that additional Vault Hunters are being offered for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel's season pass in place of story DLC (rather than in addition to it, as Gaige the Mechromancer and Krieg the Psycho were in B...more

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel illustrates the danger of nebulous season passes

Over the weekend, details came out of PAX Australia regarding the first downloadable Vault Hunter for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. At first, it looked to me like a commendable gesture for a series that receives a lot of criti...more
