Suda51's newest game project, Lollipop Chainsaw, was at PAX and Max Scoville got a chance to play it. There are lollipops, a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader, rainbows and zombies.
A quirky, fun game in which you kill zombies with chainsaws and pom-poms. If you have not been paying attention to this game you should probably start. Expect Lollipop Chainsaw some time in 2012 and remember, words can be weapons.
A bit gutted that you guys got to play it while us limeys were only allowed to watch, but whatever. Sounds like it plays how it looked how it plays (now that wasn't confusing at all, was it?). I have my fingers crossed for this one, it looks like it's going to go one of two ways, either random GOTY out of nowhere ala Bayonetta or terrible, totally forgettable dirge ala Bullet Witch.
@ TXYeti- Nope, not just in game media. Film critics called Airplane smart when it was first released, as well as Woody Allen's Everything You Wanted To Know About Sex. Book critics called American Psycho smart as well. Just because something is farce doesn't mean it can't be smart.
No, smart does not equal serious, and don't think I've seen a smarter send up of the the old "boys like gore, chainsaws and violence" and "girls like cute outfits, hearts, and rainbows" gender dichotomy than Lollipop Chainsaw.
ANTI-JIMMY. OMG. I feel like if DToid had a cartoon, our justice league would consist of Anti-jimmy, anti-sofik, and mattrodroid prime, who would use their logic and coherent sentences to combat the CAPS LOCK of jimmy, sofik, and that brain washer guy.
I think it's kind of cool that we went from a Suda game where your girl gets kidnapped because you refused to say that the Lord of the Underworld's dick is bigger than yours (in a figurative and literally sense) to a game where you play as a cheerleader that kills zombies and cause rainbows to shoot out of them.
Give me that sweet, sweet release date so I can pre-order this.
I love how girly this game is, this reminds me of those Lisa Frank binders I use to see girls at school carrying. One time this girl I liked game me a Lisa Frank pencil, IT WAS THE GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE!
I am excited for this game now since the gameplay has been confirmed as solid and the combat looks interesting enough. However, the whole blood and rainbows shooting out kind of reminds me of that one standards and practices bit on [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqnNURx3Y6Q]ATHF[url].
Can't wait for yet another Suda51 masterpiece, my fave up to this day is still Killer7 due to its crazyness level but NMH1/2 and Shadows were so fun and unique.
I laughed pretty hard hearing about the math teacher, which isn't something I often do hearing a story re-told. The gameplay and animation look awesome, too. Can't wait.
This game is definately on the to buy list. I love how it says "Romero" on her top too. Not that i was looking down there intenionally haha, but it's nice to see a hero of mine get recognised.
Man this looks great. Can't wait to fight that teacher. Hopefully the hack n' slash beat 'em up formula of No More Heroes is taken to new heights. Thanks Max!
