Max Payne movie casts Mila Kunis, may be aiming at a PG-13 rating

Max Payne movie casts Mila Kunis, may be aiming at a PG-13 rating photo
     Movies

A couple of new details for the Max Payne movie have been revealed today. First off, That '70s Show and Family Guy star, Mila Kunis, will be playing a major role in the movie. IGN believes that Mila will be playing as Mona Sax from Max Payne 2. Her character is described as "an assassin who teams up with Max Payne to avenge her sister's death" which seems to resemble Mona. That isn't confirmed yet, but at least we have some decent eye candy in the movie now.

In other Max Payne movie news, the first shot of Mark Wahlberg as Max Payne has been released. Nothing too special about the shot, just shows Mark getting into a car while it's raining. Aside from that, DarkZero has heard that the movie is shooting for a PG-13 rating. Max Payne was all about the extreme violence so hearing any rumblings of a toned down movie is a real downer.

Do you think this movie has a chance at all or is it going to suck just like all the other videogame movie adaptations? We'll know for sure sometime in 2009 when the movie comes out.

Also, I don’t think Mila Kunis fits at all...but we’ll see.

It's usually hit or miss with Wahlberg, so it already had about a 50% fail rate. Now it's about 149% (1% accounts for her being hot)

I'll still give it a shot. Four Brothers and Shooter were pretty entertaining, so I guess he can fit in well in those cheesey shoot em' up movies.

Though, I have only seen Mila in comedic-esc roles, her playing Mona has gotten me interested.

I refuse to believe that Marky Mark would allow such a movie to be PG-13. It should be a hard R. Hard R for hard ons.

R-rating, or I'll just wait until it's at the $1 cinema. That way it would be cheaper than a dvd rental (including Netflix) or VOD.

And why are people unhappy with Mila Kunis involved? Secretly, we all dream of tapping some Meg Griffin ass (even if she was really Meg Griffin)!

More proof that movies and videogames should stay as far away from each other as possible. The only games I can think of that would make good movies are the Metal Gear series. Hell, they're practically movies already. There hasn't been a really good game based on a movie since Goldeneye.

I'll wait till I see some footage to judge it. If they keep with the film noir theme of the game, and do it well, it could be a decent movie. But somehow I can see this going south, especially if they don't make it an R rated movie.

@ Tgammet:

He probably IS her dad. Marky Mark and the ladies?

Most of the people that Played and loved the Original Max Payne are now late teens early twenties, or well into there adult lives. So a PG-13 rating is ludicrous. They haven't made a new game for 4 years! The kids these days wont give a fuck about the movie. So why rate it down?

But regardless, If Marky Mark gets the Funky Bunch involved = Instant win.

The best thing they could do is make a neo noir film and aim for it to be completely over the top.

Fuck this lame ass sackload of shit. Mark wahlberg looks and sounds absolutely nothing like max payne. Mila kunis sounds like a chipmunk, mona sax should not. A PG-13 film of max payne just plain won't work. I will be avoiding.

Being that the game was given the late teen to adult rating of M for violence drug references, language sexual themes etc. I really don't see this movie living up to the type of action and content that inspired it by toning it down the the preteen rating of PG-13.

I never played the game, so I can't really judge for myself, but is this worthy of a movie? I honestly didn't hear hordes of people clamoring for a Max Payne movie. As Zecahrai pointed out, it's been a while since their last game, so is Max Payne relevant any more?

This is quickly sliding down toilet and around the U-bend to meet all the other game-film adaptations that ended up being steaming turd piles.

Misled by it not having universally awful reviews, I made the mistake of watching Hitman the other day. Turned that heap of shit off before the halfway mark, it was an insult to the games' fanbase.

Jesus, we really need to stop paying for anything and everything with our favourite games attached to them, maybe then they'll start actually trying to make good adaptations.

This was seriosuly the bes Rockstar story and i have such fond memories of planning the second. I saw some five minute amatuer thing and if this doesnt compare ill be so fucking pissed off!
I mean common all you have to do is put it in black and white or grainy film noir, have john woo angles but a few more close ups and have a constantly narrating monologue of how "The rain was falling down like god was taking a leak all over my face"
