I like that they're not dropping the Noir feel of storytelling, I will not stop watching trailers and buy the game on launch.

Also, yeah, I get how noir gets shoved into involving New York and the late night hours and dingy dive bars. But like the devs said a long while back. Noir isn't about New York as a setting. It's about the characters. The setting doesn't matter as much so long as it is a bleak urban area and if you nail characters into being dark cynical bastards.

Except for the fallen protagonist struggling with his inner demons in an impoverished portion of a prosperous city to protect someone using John Woo inspired gunplay, all presented in a grim, dirty aesthetic.

Much like the transition from last generation's GTA games to GTA4, it looks like much of the playful campiness and noir atmosphere of the old games is being ditched in favor of realism. It might turn out to be a solid game, but this trailer only inspires the most cautious of optimism from me.
Is anyone else concerned that Max Payne is about shooting, and Rockstar has never made a game with tight gunplay?
I'm not saying anything about the quality of the game until it arrives in reviews.

I hope it keeps the cool comic strip style of narrative, though I doubt they will after seeing this trailer.
I hope the ballistics are even more amazing than in MaxPayne2, if that's possible.

This is the first time a game trailer has made me so excited since "Catherine"'s launch. I grew up playing this series, and this looks like a glorious return to form, yet with enough innovation to compete with modern shooters. It'll be refreshing to see Rockstar paring itself down back to linear progression.
São Paulo is also called the drizzle land by the locals so, where the fuck is the Payne's rain coat?!
I live in Sao Paulo, the place on Max Payne 3 looks like Rio de Janeiro. Fuck off, if you want to put South America in a game with so much budget, try not to fall on stereotypes, goddammit.
I still see *no* practical reason for bald Max or Sao Paolo. It's like they did those just because they could.
Also the "guy stands in front of mirror and shaves off all his hair" scene is such an overused cliche.

Holy fuck. He's still the same voice actor! Not to mention this game actually looks really damn amazing.
Man on Fire: The Game ft. Max Payne. This is a combination that makes me undeniably happy. Oh, and I think I saw plenty of noir in that trailer: grizzled, washed up policeman turned to the bottle? check. Starting the game after he's already "lost" (I'm getting the impression he didn't protect a little girl)? check. Ham-fisted moments of introspection (shaving the head scene)? check. Now all we need is a femme fatale to show up and Max to stagger to a finale with no closure and it'll be perfect.
i think its funny everyone complaining its not like the old games. then go play those if thats what you want. games change. so do players tastes.
im sure it will have guns, bullet time, killing , pills/drugs, good/bad cops, bad guys,and a stylish Hollywood crime drama story. sounds like max payne to me.
all the stuff that was in the other games. just a new setting. max is washed up now. hes an aging detective who prob failed to save a client. so he went off the radar to drown his sorrows. and this is what comes of it. personally ive never been let down by a rockstar game. ever.
and to jimmyx la noire wasnt made by rockstar.

I want the "shave your head" minigame too, "move the right stick in the direction you want to shave" or with move put the motion cotroller on your head and shave yourself" ok no....
Story looks shallow to me. I mean, after the first game the second's story seemed shallow. Now think about this one... Different setting, many years later...
And yes, it also looks too focused on the action and not enought on the suspense and emotional involvement of the first two.
Still looking forward to it though.
