Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Matlockery Contest! Win an Xbox 360 and Frontlines: Fuel of War from THQ & Dtoid photo

What the hell is the Olduvai Theory and, more importantly, who founded it? Beats me, but I bet you'd like to know because the right answer could score you a free game, an Xbox 360 Premium console, or some spiffy swag. This month Destructoid is sponsored by THQ's Frontlines: Fuel of War, a military FPS war between the Red Star Alliance and the Western Coalition (Remember the Reagan years? Use your imagination!) You can check out screenshots and learn more on the official site.

How to win!

The mission is to complete our cryptic scavenger hunt before February 25 for your chance to win.  The answers and clues are somewhere on the internet. I will reveal the location of the clue next week, but until then the only thing I can say is "Wayne Andrew's blog". That's it!  When you figure out the answer to the founder question plug it in www.exeoinc.com to get a virtual raffle ticket for the grand prize. If you can't figure it out, don't worry -- I'll have a less useless clue for you next week. Good luck!

Legal blah blah

Odds of winning are based on how many Dtoiders' register. This is an exclusive contest just for our readers, so your odds are pretty good -- just register with the same email address registered in your Dtoid profile to prevent duplicate entries. Time travel is impossible with our current technology. A can of soda can contain about 200 calories, which is about 1/4 of the calories found in a Whopper, hence your epic double chin. Contest is restricted to Canadian and US residents only as prizes will be shipped directly from our sponsor. Destructoid employees, family, and intelligent pets are not eligible. Void where prohibited. God save the dolphins.

[Update: Do to some weird technically issues, we're going to give you the answer to question number 6! The answer is invoice number: 5785761234. YAY TECHNOLOGY!]

@bluexy there's a way for detoiders to enter a special drawing for the 360. i won't say how because i need better odds as i need that 360. also, because i'm a douche.

but you have to admit...air combat would be pretty bad ass.

God I feel stupid thanks to this thing. I made it to question #6 before I got completely stuck, read everything in the FTP folder and still can't find a mission code. I even translated things! Today's dumb moment has been brought to you by the letter F for Frontlines. =D

I feel utterly retarded... I sped through the contest in 10 minutes and now I can't figure out this last damn part to enter the Destructoid contest. *sigh*

@bluexy: Yeah I'm in the same boat. It took me way longer than I figured it would because I'm dumb, but then I can't figure out the Destructoid part either.

@riomccarthy or bluexy

A simple yes or no answer please!

For question #9 are you supposed to call that 1-877 number for the codes? If the answer is YES than it is lame as a few of us in Canada can not call it.

Yes, you need to call the phone number.

Thanks for the fast reply,

That totally sucks as both me and mikemqn are in Canada and it is not patching us through, we get a number is out of service call....LAME CONTEST is catered to the US...lol

I got to the end but I still haven't figured out how to enter the dtoid contest or how to get the t-shirt.

Ha Ha, I am such an idiot. Figured it out now. Got the email and confirmation of entering the dtoid contest. I hope they have more than one size of t-shirt.

@BluFire: I'd like to know this as well.

Also, I've been having problems with the website that when I try to click the text box to try a different mission code it's not letting me click there. I've refreshed the site and such and now I can't click in the text box anymore. Any thoughts? =/

@riomccarthy/blufire

When you enter the "special" you get a message stating that you entered the Destructoid contest. That's all I can give you.

Also, just try typing what you want as after you enter the word I believe it just sits in the entry box as I noticed some weird stuff with that as well.

I figured out how I was able to type in that text box, so if somebody's gotten to the point where they think they know where to enter it and end up getting stuck there, PM me or something.

How are they restricting it to only Dtoid people? I found people on Yahoo Answers asking how to do different stages of the contest (meaning now anyone in the world searching for fan info on this game has the potential of stumbling upon our contest).
mix's Avatar - Comment posted on 01/19/2008 15:37

They are restricting it as you guys are just doing it wrong, I don't want to give it away as the people who figured it out either got it, or worked hard to get it.

Wait till next week when Neiro gives his 2nd clue.

I've read both the instructions as well as all the blog entries and I'm still clueless. I must be missing something really obvious. If we get it right after the next clue do we still get the t-shirt or just the first amount of people?

the only problem i have with this contest is if Canadians are unable to make the call to number 8 or 9....i forget...then this contest is not open to them...I've already given the answer to one person who got the number but couldnt make the call because thats just not right for that person to get that far and have to quit because of a bad idea. this contest wasnt thought out fully if it restricts part of the people who should be eligible.

with that said even with all the issues thanks DToid for at least giving us a chance for free stuff...hopefully my Tee comes soon. It better not be an XL just because I'm an American doesnt mean that size fits me.

Sorry about the tech issues guys but yeah, I suppose the question was kind of easy if you know where to look :)

To answer the question about Destructoid: that particular mission code is unique to Dtoid, and we're going to match the winning name to an account on the site to give the 360 to. Good luck!

I won a free shirt, yay. They sent me an email asking about my shipping info. I also got the message on the site, saying that I was enterred into the Destructoid drawing. Do you also get an email related to the Dtoid contest or is that it?

All i can say is go to the main page (the one without the contest code enter window) and look of for a slowly changing slideshow of info. there you will know what we are talking about and how to enter fully into the contest.
