Mass Effect PC patch 'coming soon,' second DLC episode on the horizon photo

Last week, a BioWare community coordinator slipped in a good bit of information for PC owners of Mass Effect. A patch is on the way. During a conversation at New York Comic Con a BioWare community manager Jay Watamaniuk told Cinema Blend that the patch isn’t too far down the pipleline. “I’m gonna say ‘coming soon’ because I have no idea of the date,” remarked Watamaniuk. “But not six months -- like a month or two.”

While fixing broken things doesn’t accompany fanfare, Watamaniuk let slip something that might: another bit of downloadable content is being worked on. Watamaniuk changed the subject to the aforementioned PC patch without giving any specifics as to what the downloadable content was or when it would be coming.

I haven't had the pleasure of checking out Mass Effect's 'Bring Down the Sky' DLC so I'm not quite sure what ME fans have in store for them. My guess is that this new unofficially announced stuff will resemble the episodic nature of the first. But we'll have to wait and see.

I only recently bought the ME DLC a few months ago. I was pretty hyped for it, but wow I was let down completely when I beat it in less than an hour. This time I'm not expecting much, but at least they're giving us something else.

Bring Down the Sky was extremely short. Hopefully whatever they're working on will last longer than 45 minutes.

They like to space out the extra content, eh? I'm slowly going through my fourth playthrough, so I'll no doubt be ready for the new DLC when it hits. I don't think I'll bother finishing this file off until I'm certain there's no more content coming, that way I won't need to start over again...

I cant wait for this. Mass Effect is an amazing title which can only get better.

But to speak on the length of the DLC. I feel like much of Xbox content is just meant to add achievements to the game...not exactly continue the story in a meaningful way. I dont have much of a problem with it but I understand why people get pissed after paying 5 or 10 dollars for only an hour of their time.

While Bring Down the Sky was short, it was still pretty enjoyable. Personally any excuse to go back and play through Mass Effect again has me sold on the DLC though. I just wish that the DLC comes with a patch that makes the Mako not handle like ass and gives me my back achievements for using certain characters. Serious I played through the game twice, completing every side quest save the collect-a-thons and only ended up with one of the 4 achievements for side characters. I dont know why Im so bitter, it's just that as much as I love it, Im not playing through it another 2 more times then I have to just for those achivements I should have already gotten. Oh well, here's to hoping the new DLC is Massive

Heh, just played a little bit of Mass Effect over the weekend, too. I'm glad (and surprised) to hear they're actually working on more DLC -- when the game launched they said it would be followed by consistent DLC releases, but since then we've only had one. And as others have said, I hope its substantially bigger than Bringing Down the Sky - which, while fun, was abysmally short.

I have a cracked version right now, but I might have to install the real thing. I've been reluctant to though, due to the whole SecuRom thing.

Bring Down The Sky was pretty weak... however, taking down the large cannons and that intense firefight at the end was pretty fun.

On a related note... I am in the middle of reading Mass Effect: Revelations - man I fucking love this universe :)

Wait, they're still planning on releasing a 2nd DLC pack? Joyous! Just when I was beginning to lose hope, too.

This might just give me a reason to finish my run through on Insanity after all.

I never bought Bring Down the Sky even though Mass Effect is amazing. Maybe its because I dont feel like its worth 5 bucks for it.

Hopefully this new DLC will be worth its price. And they make Bring Down the Sky free.

@Arctic Fox
You have to play a majority of the game with the character to get the achievement, that means no switching out characters. You have to complete about 17 main quests and 35 side quests with the ally to unlock their achievement. The first time I played through I missed the achievements because I would swap between members but after I realized why I wasn't getting the achievement I started just sticking with the same two guys the whole way through and have easily unlocked the achievements in subsequent playthroughs (I'm on my 4th or 5th playthrough).

That's the crazy thing! I actually did that. My first play through I NEVER swapped out Wrex or Ashley, even though I pretty much despised Ashley. I finished all the main missions and did every side quest the game offered me (maybe 40 hours worth of gameplay). I cant explain that one, maybe I missed something important. Same thing with my second play through as well, I used Garrus and Tali the entire game, again never swapping them out, save for when I completed another party member's side quest and ended up with only Garrus', and he was the one I usually swapped out when doing missions like Wrex's armor. Maybe I did something wrong?

Still, I love the game

ArticFox...

I feel your pain. The same thing happened to me with Ashley. In fact, I found it easier to get the Asari achievement, then the human one.

But it was all worth it in the end.... 4 1/2 playthroughs later... 1100/1100 :)

Tali is the best. Wish she had been developed more.
Anyway, I thought BDtS was my favorite non-main plot quest. That is a criticism for this (great!) game, you can really tell when you are playing a really well developed section and then the side stuff (planets) are almost all the exact same formula. Not that it didn't have some neat things to jumble things up here and there.
Anyway, it is pretty late but I'm super stoked for this DLC! PC ftw!

Bethesda makes shit games. Oblivion was horrible and Fallout 3 was a mess that ruined the storyline of Fallout 1/2. See? i can make blanket statements too.
