Mass Effect hit with slight delay photo

For those of us following Mass Effect, I've got some bad news for you: According to CVG and Microsoft, the anticipated RPG is being pushed back from a summer release to a September release. The horrid details:

BioWare's much-anticipated Xbox 360 RPG Mass Effect has finally been pencilled in for release this September, months after the June/July arrival date previously expected. The news comes from an official Microsoft event this morning, though no more details have been offered.

If the game does in fact come out in September, then we are in for a flood of too many good games at once. Spread this stuff out people!

The end of this year is going to be absolutely bat-shit insane. It's going to be pretty interesting to see how everything plays out.

Well the game never had an official release date so I'm not really surprised.

Seriously, is there anything on those lists that isn't a licensed movie game that you planned on buying this summer?

Not for me, that's fer damn sure.

I'm saving up already. I figure if I can manage to save up 2 million dollars, I should be able to buy all the games on my list this fall. But even that's cutting it close.

Relax guys, Microsoft already said they havent made any official statements, so this is purely bullshit. But it probably will end up getting delayed. But till SEPT. ? Next to Halo3? Hmmmm.

Why are there no summer releases?
I thought E3's death would have had some effect.

Well, looks like I'm gonna have to survive on old Xbox games until The Darkness comes out... Oh, and I still haven't beaten Dead Rising.

Like other sites reported, the statement comes from the UK, not the US, so this could be a European release delay. Also, Bioware said they want the game out before E3 which is in mid-july, so although this ain't no guarantee, it still gives us some hope that it will come sooner rather than later.

Also, Microsoft US and Bioware are refusing to comment on that "date" right now, which is not even a date but a targeted month.

In the end, even if the game comes out in September, this will only mean that the game has been polished a bit more.

And personally, I'll be on vacation this fall so I don't mind getting a gazillion games at that time ;)

@Canadian

Sure, go ahead and lie to yourself about Too Human, Stranglehold, and UT3. Those of us in reality know too well that a release date for at least 2 of those games will be late 2007 at the earliest. I'd be shocked to see Too Human this year frankly. I'd put good money on Stranglehold getting delayed for some reason, call me wary, considering the speculative Aug '07 release date...

@Bahamut

I can do you one better.

That walkthrough was great.
As for the date itself:
"We have not made any official announcements regarding release timing for Mass Effect," adds Microsoft. "At this time, any information about the game's release date is purely rumor and speculation."
It can easily go either way, but hopefully this is an European release date like Jak said.
Also, Too Human looks like its pretty close to being completed, so hopefully that'll some soon.

Well......IDK, i dont mind waiting for an amazing game, but I will need to find a game to hold me out over the summer. Hopefully its SSBB. Or else I might need to switch back to my WOW addiction. Which is a serious situation.

You can't delay a game that has no release date.

I'm ignoring all the lackluster summer releases (imo) and i'm finally going to jump head first into my VC, This is the summer of the retro. and for those us us who held out on buying those games, wait until June. summer gaming drought wont even be recognized
