Mass Effect goes half price on Steam photo

Mass Effect enters into the news cycle for the second time today with this precious little announcement via Valve: the original PC version of ME is now available on Steam for 50 percent off as part of another Weekend Deal. According to its listing on the Steam Web page, the title sits at $9.99, as opposed to its normal price of $19.99.

The other bit of Mass Effect news came this morning with EA’s announcement of the Mass Effect 2 Collector's Edition bundle. This package comes with the game, a 48-page art book, and unique DLC among other things.

As noted in the press release Valve blasted about the ME savings this weekend, Bioware’s other RPG Dragon Age: Origins is hitting Steam this week. Look for it if you’re a fan of Bioware’s stuff and don’t mind characters interacting with blood all over their faces and bodies.

If you haven’t played Mass Effect (where have you been?), then this is definitely a great bit of initiative to do so. The elevator rides suck and the Mako blows, but the rest of the sci-fi RPG is nothing short of stellar.

Agreed, If you hadn't played it yet, pick it up nao. They even optimized a few things about the graphics, AND it'll come with Bringing Down The Sky free.

And while you're browsing the Steam Store, why don't you check out the Earthworm Jim Collection, just added today.

I just started playing Mass Effect for the PC a couple of days ago. I'm really enjoying it, and I'm glad that I bought it at a cheap price long ago and waited until I had a computer that would play it properly to finally see why people liked this.

I've played through Mass Effect 3.25 times on the 360, and I'm still hard pressed to let this deal pass me by (again)... decisions, decisions...

Everyone should have played Mass Effect already. What you people should be doing is playing Dragon Age.

God dammit!I just bought this off of steam like two weeks ago. Ah well, good news for those who haven't played it. It's quite good, but not deserving of the status it has attained in my opinion.

"The elevator rides suck and the Mako blows..."

I'll agree with the long elevator rides, but I've never really understood why everyone complained about the handling of the Mako. There are loads of games that have vehicles with god awful handling in them (Gears of War's stupid driving section comes to mind!), and Mass Effect definitely wasn't one of them!

Also, damn, because I bought my copy of ME long ago before I knew it would be 1/2 price on Steam! :P

Might get this, even though I've beaten it at least 5 times on Xbox, just because it would fit so nicely next to KOTOR, Jade Empire, and (most recently) Dragon Age in my STEAM account. :D

!! Crap. A bad time to not have a bank account or credit card.

Anyone know if the prepaid money cards from Walmart or the like works with Steam? I probably can't play ME on this computer but $10 for a game I've been wanting is nothing to sneeze at. ...and all I have is cash. D:

Seriously, what is with the characters of Dragon Age being covered with gore when they're talking? I'm all for realism, but it's closer to surrealism when two people are drenched in blood and exchanging pleasantries...

I hate you Bioware. Not because the game is bad, I hear its quite good, but because you thought it was a good idea to region lock the game from me. It sucks to be a PC gamer in Japan.

well I just picked this up since $10 is too hard to pass up.

Now I'm really hoping for no ps3 ports of the series so I don't get upset later that I didn't hold out for it.
