"The United Kingdom denies any knowledge of the existence of aliens."
There, I just did the heavy lifting for them. Now it's 15 seconds to copy and paste what I just wrote. Gosh, that was hard. I should get a yearly salary with benefits and retirement for that shit.
Look how low the bar is!
Honestly I'm a bit surprised anyone gives a fuck that they're trolling a government. Doesn't the internet hate governments? Just seemed like a pretty funny way to troll someone with the only repercussion being someone has to take half a minute out of their day to entirely ignore a petition.
I dunno, guess I just see the humor in it.
Government resources should not be used to advertise a damn video game. The fact it will take them 5mins is irrelevant.
Fuck sake.
Dude, you ever have a government job? I promise, whoever has to do it will be fucking grateful for the opportunity to DO something for a few minutes. Seriously, there's only so many hours in a day someone can stare at Facebook and Dtoid and Memebase before they want to claw out their eyeballs. And that's assuming the office hasn't gotten around to blocking Facebook yet.
I just feel that, with the state of things today, we should not waste any more of the the government's time than they are wasting themselves. The fact that a petition with enough signatures (100k I believe) could actually force this silly shit into a legitimate government hearing makes the whole thing look incredibly immature. Even if it only takes a minute to bring up and brush to the side, it's a waste of time. And no matter how funny it might seem, it's still inappropriate - like most good jokes.
But it made Jim Sterling say "Christ almighty" so I guess it's worth it after all. :P
Usually I don't try to drown out negative thoughts but I already pre-ordered, played the first two games and won't be cancelling. Time to drink the Kool-Aid.
Link will go dead when the thread 404's.
however, my last census form had "jedi" in the "other religion" field so i can't really take the high ground.
I know exactly what you mean, and I think I know why.
There's certain subset of people that hate everything that gets a lot of attention. There's another subset that hates sequels. There's another subset that hates all Western games. There's another that hates all console games. There's another that hates anything and everything EA has anything to do with. There's another that hates anything and everything Bioware has anything to do with.
This game has the unfortunate distinction to fall into all those categories simultaneously, thus drawing a HUGE amount of ire from people with pet peeves. I don't mean to say this as though they're somehow wrong to dislike things... anyone is free to hate whatever they want to hate for any reason, or no reason at all. Just pointing out how ME3 tends to be a lightning rod of rage for a lot of people.
Then the million could be used to help less fortunate people, or wasted in bureaucracy or something.
I'm not sure why there's a line there that I won't cross, but there is. Dammit.
It's not like they're wasting government resources either. Remember, they're not asking for a new investigation. They're simply requesting a release of what the UK already has.
Isn't that why I pay taxes?
