When it comes to Mass Effect 3, it looks your gender choices won't just be limited to gameplay. As illustrated in this new unboxing video from BioWare, Mass Effect 3 will also have a dual sided cover, allowing players to choose between male and female Shepards. This option will be available for all standard versions of the game.

There. Now your outside parts can look like your inside parts. If that's what's in your heart.

Mass Effect 3 standard edition contains reversible FemShep cover [Joystiq]

That's pretty sweet. Should consider this with more games.

That's brilliant! Glad they're extending the coverage of femshep so that more people are aware that she... well, you know, exists.

Wait, so they spent a little extra money on something that only benefits the customer?

Is this still EA were talking about?

Meh.. Personally games that allow for so, much diversity and freedom such as - Mass Effect, and The Elder Scrolls - should not put a face to a character (cover wise.) It sort of ruins the imagination and role that yourself will play in the development of said story. It's not a bad cover overall, but I believe it is just a poor choice in judgement on their part. Especially in terms where the role of the protagonist is undefined in general. This way you avoid any unecessary bickering, or complaints and allow for total freedom of expression all at the same time. Skyrim's own cover is a great example. It is simple, but it still stands out, and is clearly memorable, and recognizable.

Oh, well. Still not a bad cover in both respects to both, Shepards. It just sort of ruins the freedom that Mass Effect in my opinion was known for (as it now defines who, Sheperd, is both respects to the gender.)

The should do an experiment with this. Put some on the shelf with the male cover and some with the female cover. Then see which one sells more.

Cool. Too bad there's not a cover that says "Negligibly different with Kinect".

I wish more games did this, if only to make the insides of the transparent cases look cooler. Especially now with manuals disappearing, now there are at least pictures on the left hand inside, instead of just two empty clips. OH YEAH ALSO ONLINE PASSES AND MORE CODES!!!

Countdown to people thinking it's a sexist travesty that femshep isn't on the outside by default...

Naw, seriously. It's neat that there's a reversible cover. I think every game should come with one so that you can hide away the marketing shit and put some prettier pictures on the box.

Oh yeah, hide the woman on the inside, SEXISM. Unless you put her on the cover, then it’s a different type of SEXISM.

Seriously though, it would be cool if a few game shops put some copies on the shelf like that.

Again, this is awesome. As far as I'm concerned, every game needs a reversible cover.

I'm still upset they gave in to all the whiners who kept complaining about them only using male Shepard in marketing.

Cool beans.

The better with kinect thing certainly kills it for me, if it wasn't for the fact that I rather keep mass effect on my xbox I would have switched to ps3 so it wouldn't have said that horrendous thing on my game case.

Did you guys know that the God of War I and II games did this also? Seriously, go try that out!

As for the video, it warms my heart to see that the majority of the video was filled with useless crap. Good use of resources.

That's loads better than BMXXXX's reversible cover. Hopefully, the contents of Mass Effect 3's box will also prove superior to those of BMXXXX.
Unless Bioware truly has been overtaken by some terrible cancer eroding it away from within, there is little doubt that will be so.

Am I seriously the only one who couldn't give a damn about Shepard's gender? Play the game however you want it to be. You could play a MaleShep and imagine that he's wearing a thong and silk stockings beneath the armor if you want!

They should make 50% of them with Shepherd on the front, and 50% of them with Femshep on the front.
