So clarifying...what exactly? The stupid 'star child'? His origins? The logic of the Reaper's mission? Why there would even be three options effected by your overall military strength? Why Harbringer is never heard from, only seen once? Why the mass relays are destroyed? How the hundreds upon thousands of different ships filled with different races are going to survive? Why Joker and my crew are running from a giant explosion or varying colour? And these are only the things I noticed while playing through the ending, apparently there's a hell of a lot more wrong with it.

You can only 'clarify' so much about a shitty ending until it becomes an outright joke, sorry and all, but you can' expect people to download something, free or not, to make up for something that should, in all fairness, have been the focal point of the development process, insofar as this was the ending to a trilogy.

So I go on BSN to level my complaint and what do I see? The majority of people complaining are the same ones that hate Bioware for everything they did ME 2 on. They are getting in the way of the debate. And no this isn't a small vocal portion either, this is pretty damn sizeable. And if that kind of thing is reflective of the protesters then hooray for the side that will hate you no matter what you do winning. Thanks internet
Seeing as how they are following Marvel/Sunbow's lead caving in to fan demand to alter a controversial ending, one can only hope that the extended ending (techno)organically fits with what was presented before rather than seeing a mysteriously unharmed Shepard floating aimlessly through space in a fully intact Citadel with no sign of the Reapers whatsoever, just waiting for her/his crew to find a renegade Cerberus scientist/Miranda to use the Operation Lazarus technology to bring Shepard back from the brink just before a hate plague spread by, say, Corporal Toombs causes the united peoples of the universe to tear themselves apart.
Adding more explanation to a bad ending just makes it a worse ending. The issue, aside from plot points is the arbitrary A, B, C nature of the ending. Not that people don't get it.
They really should just move on, they won't please people, and only risk suffering more damage to their reputation as a developer.
As for the fans, just learn from the experience and move on. I was a preorder, CE edition, die hard bioware fan since as far back as KoToR 1. So while I'm disappointed with the less than stellar ending, I'm just using that emotion to modify my behavior. From now on Bioware is no longer that preorder CE purchase. It's now a wait and see 30-40 dollar purchase. If they fix their issues and start pumping out quality again I'll upgrade them.
Regardless, this is how it works folks. If a dev drops the ball, stop supporting them, they'll get the hint and fix it or eventually go away in failure. It's a simple system really. Sure it takes time, but that's life.

Just proves the crappy ending WAS intentional. No one would have held free DLC for ay reason, if they weren't scrambling to make it now. Don't expect any new voice work.
As someone who was extremely disappointed with the ending, I'm quite pleased with this. There was a lot wrong with the ending (IMO), but the worst of all was how light it was, it's lack of closure, and how it just rushed you into the credits. I think more cinematics to address those problems is the right choice. I know a lot of people wanted to change everything, which I understand, but that's too unrealistic and a bit silly at this point. And I believe having the endings be more fleshed out and satisfying will help a lot of players over look the diablos ex machina there at the end. I know there's still a chance that this will suck ass, but there's hope at least.
At the end of the day the only thing that was ever really on the line was EA/Biowares reputation. Three games that had become noteworthy for their quality and story until the end was just so poorly executed.

Well, Army of Two actually had free DLC that included an alternate ending so, there's precedent. And it pretty much ended the same way that Army of Two did, just with a boss fight instead so well there's that.
Perhaps I end up wrong about the epilogues, but if I'm not I really hope they don't include N7 maps with it. That would be a kick in the balls.

A lot of this outrage is about perception, denial of release history mediocrity, and a skewed personal level of investment.

And if as Skyblade says they are being taken off creating more paid DLC (I'd be highly skeptical of this) then good. Anything that stops this post-launch service crap is a good outcome for consumers. EA nickel and dimed the hell of of people with ME2. I didn't realise until today that they had the nerve to charge for all the weapon and skin items on the PSN store despite it all being made and released on 360 the previous year. As someone just half-way through to the first one and doesn't have all the info (mainly due to trying really hard not to spoil himself) sounds like the best solution IMO, don't change the ending just give more details for where each ending differed instead of a "one size fits all", that's the 2 basic complains the more level headed fans raised, a "what happened to the characters we knew and choices we made for 3 whole games" and "give more info on wtf happened cuz it doesn't make sense".
