Mass Effect 2 surprise coming this week photo

Yes, it's another story about an announcement for an announcement. You can insert whatever excuse (it's the weekend, people want to know, Mass Effect 2 is a big game) you want here for reporting on it. According to the ME2 Facebook fan page a surprise announcement revealing something surprising will be hitting some time this week.

Chris Priestly (or his evil doppelganger) posted this news on the page: "Man, so much time tied up today in meetings and "secret stuff" I didn't get any time with ME2 at all. =( Still with the coming surprise for next week on the ME2 website, I'm sure fans will forgive me for no update. Did I, Evil Chris Priestly, just drop a hint? Yes. Yes I did."

What could it be? Let's hope it is an announcement about how the game's terrible box art is going to be changed to something that doesn't look like the poster to a Hallmark move. Really, couldn't you just see that thing captioned with "His struggles almost killed him, but then he found friendship, laughter and love?" You'd have to take the guns out of course, but I think I'm spot on there.

Either some collector's edition with goodies or *gasp* DLC on release day.

Maybe it's about how you can now contract Asari hookers in case you don't want to spend your precious time romance chatting to get to the real thing.

I've a feeling it may be the announcement of the Ps3 version. New Special Editions or revised boxart hardly seem suprising, are they?

Im hoping for interspecies sex with wrex and robotic sex with legion ( the real thing will probably be an announcement as Legion as a ally)

i know it
new dlc character will be Jim Sterling, and Samit as playable characters.
Samit's character has the ability to make enemies flee while he talks about sports.
While Jim's makes witty puns that give him higher xp with every kill.
Also Jim's character will have 70% more sex scenes, and Samit's will have a half a sex scene cut off by the Yankie's celebration clips after they won the 2009 world series.
all this for the low price of $2 and a meat pie

I hope the surprise is that they'll ship a finished and optimized game this time.

Probably (sadly?) DLC stuff.

Though I guess it could be more interesting. Still looking forward to the game very much... hoping it has more than one town this time though.

I'm going to jump on the fanboy train and hope that it's a ps3 port announcement. I didn't really care for the game, but after buying it on Steam recently and playing it. I gotta admit, while the PC version is nice, I can't help but wish I couldn't play it on my ps3.

I really wouldn't care about the new game+ features if I could just play it on ps3.

The surprise is that if you preorder from GameStop you'll get a special duck helmet for commander Shepard to wear.

Why's it a fanboy train? The way Bioware have been hinting at it mercilessly, its more just a "drop the pretense and admit it" thing.

Collector's Edition was already announced. I'm guessing it's the new trailer kitae was talking about or something character related.

It better not be the GameStop preorder bonus everyone decided to ignore.

Oh, and it would be spiffy if they released a demo over the holiday season (or maybe sooner).

The annoucement is that there's gonna be a sex scene. It'll be awkward and not tantalizing. It'll not really fit anywhere within the story or context of the game. But there it is, nonetheless.

My inner fanboy will rage if they announce a PS3 version.

Yet another victim of the evil EA empire. EA is garbage.

I was being sarcastic in a way that no one here would know unless they knew me in real life. Fact is, some people don't want it on ps3, and I lump those people with the people who would be inclined to call me a Sony fanboy for wanting the opposite.

Just jest is all.

I love how in the console wars - oriented articles, it's always "YOU CAN KEEP YOUR ELEVATOR SCENES" and now it's "PLEAAASSEEE PS3."

@ Jacob Gamer - I'm going to take that a little further: screw Shephard, I want to play as an elcor. And in every line of dialog, I expect an adjective to preemptively describe my feelings.

Or maybe I just want Shephard to talk like an elcor. Eh, I'll settle for an elcor party member XD.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if a PS3 version was eventually announced, but I don't think that would be a very exciting surprise for people on the Mass Effect 2 fan page. Don't you think that most of those people are already planning to get the game on PC or 360? This just doesn't seem like the best way to reveal information like that.

And why would they announce it so soon before release, instead of months ago (so that they could promote it along with the other versions,) or after the other versions are released (if there is some kind of temporary exclusivity contract)? I'm going to guess that this surprise is going to be something else. I have no idea what, but I'm excited.

Not ME related but I hope the surprise in the header picture is a nice little penis once you fold down the laptop screen. I would then seek her out and make her my wife.

The actual ME-related surprise will be that ME2 is not the second installment in a trilogy, but will be a part of the new ME expanded universe with 3 new games announced for each console and handheld.

I for one could not stand OoT when it first came out. I thought the game looked hideous, because at the time, I couldn't understand what was the big deal about polygons! I thought it looked bland and well, blockish. I completely ignored OoT and refused to play it. It wasn't until years later, upon completing the delightful and charming Wind Waker on the Nintendo Gamecube did I finally felt compelled to go back and give Ocarina of Time a try, and I'm glad I did.

I'm not expecting a ps3 port announcement, but I do hope it happens. It's probably going to be something ridiculously unrelated.

see, at this point a ps3 announcement wouldn't be a surprise, it would be an expectant (especially from sony fanboys); they are aware people are expecting it and not too long ago officially announced on their forums it's pc/360 only, but their forums still get hessitant threads about it.

a real surprise would be something totally unguessable by anyone outside of bioware and left only to the truly hardcore and clever about mass effect. i really love mass effect but i have an inkling it may have to do with a companion favourite:

wrex ;D

Well after the EA Russia's site and the ME2 code for all version of DA:O CE, I would say ... all DLC will be free ?

I'm torn, I want it to be on the PS3, but I want to use my save from MA1.
