If you’re afraid to go full Space Wizard or Space Engineer in Mass Effect 2, don’t fret: there’s a class that mixes Biotic strength with tech skill. It’s called the Sentinel, and your first look (excluding the one you got of it in Mass Effect) is available above.
The Sentinel is a mutt with a unique trait. It can use tech armor, which increases shield strength and delivers a seismic-like blast if it’s depleted. And because this class does a little of both kinds of space sorcery, you can count on it being able to rob the shields of most enemies, leaving them naked and scared and wishing they didn’t bother joining the Reavers or whatever.
Eh, the tech armor sounds interesting, but it'd have to do a lot to make up for the fact that the Sentinal class was absolutely useless in ME1. Figure if you wanted to do both, you might as well bring party members who can take care of that for you.
Ah well, just gonna stick with my "guns and guns and more guns" soldier-class Shepard.

That's me all the way. I'm a big fan of wearing the best gear, doing all the damage, killing all the guys, and having my dedicated hacker/electronics guy watch, while the biotics guy sits next to us soaking xp.
Both the Sentinel class and Adept classes really have me interested this time around. Like most players, I just went the straight up Solider route as that seemed like the most straight forward way to deal with your enemies.
Don't Sentinel's have restriction skills from both sides? I'd rather fully specialize in one thing rather than half-assing 2 things at once. But, the mix always served well for those with different playstyles that worked both ways.
@Iwelyk- You get a gimped version of both biotics and engineering to put it bluntly. Biotics and engineering are both very useful and very powerful skills when you specialize in them. Trying to specialize in both ends up with both being less useful then they could be.
Also, the loss of even the most basic armor training and the ability to train with ANY weapon make it a hard class to work with. At least Adepts and Engineers can use pistols (which are actually very reliable weapons) to defend themselves.
It was stated a while back that armor classes were removed from the game. no more light, medium, and heavy, it's just armor now that you can customize to suit your characters needs. No more space leotards, now all classes will have a suit or armor that looks cool.
@xenoslave42- Really? I had no idea. I've been trying my best to stay away from ME2 news, it only gets me more excited. If that's the case, good then! I always had a hard time taking light armor (especially the Phoenix model) seriously.
But I'm skeptical. Does that mean ALL armor looks the same now, just with different stats? That'd be pretty disappointing. I liked how in ME1, you could clearly tell the difference between a heavily-armed Soldier Shepard and an agile lightly-armored Adept Shepard.
No there are definitely multiple flavors of armor, it just all (at least the human ones) looks as beefy as the heavy armor from ME. You can check out the different preorder armors available from various retailers to see some examples of the different styles. You can apparently customize the color to suit your preferences as well. As far as the modification system goes though, the devs have been very tight lipped. Also heads up to those wanting to avoid spoilers as the info embargo on the game gets lifted this thursday (12/17).
Fuck yeah bitches. I was a badass Sentinel in ME1 and I'll be a badass Sentinel in ME2.
Also, didn't know they removed armor classes! This game is evolving more and more into "moar shooter, less RPG" but I think in the long it'll help filter out the flaws.
Sentinel it is! In the first game adept was really hard to play as and looks easier in 2 but I'm pretty pumped about sentinel over eng and adept after seeing all 3 vids. still 3 more to go though
Due to something spoilery that happens at the start of the game, even if you import your save you'll be given the option to alter both your class and your characters looks.
ill bet they didnt upgrade the vanguard to the extent they did the sentinel and engineer, as the vanguard was, by far, the most powerful class for me. Soldier was good, but vanguard after unlocking the assault rifle was just unfair.

Oh, the destruction.
