Marvel vs. Capcom 2 hitting XBLA on July 29 photo

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is hitting Xbox LIVE Arcade soon. Like, July 29th soon (as sorta rumored). Earlier this morning the Capcom announced that MvC2 would be a part of Microsoft’s annual “Summer of Arcade” promotion and confirmed that the price of the title will be a hefty 1,200 Microsoft Banana Dollars.

We’ve yet to receive official word on a PlayStation Network release date, but we’re guessing it’ll be either before or very close to the XBLA release date. In late April, Capcom released a PlayStation Network exclusive demo for the fighter. Obviously, there’s a strong tie with Sony present with MvC2.

Come July 29, who wants to roll against my Zangief?

I'm seriously hoping they don't expect ps3 owners to wait for that retail copy from gamestop.

I guess July 30th for PSN. Or maybe July 23rd? Either way, first day purchase.

Cool, two days after my birthday. Would Zangief, Hulk, and Juggernaut make up Team Chet?

Did anyone expect anything but 1200 points? That seemed pretty obvious, due to the massive demand for the game.

Zounds! 1200 monopoly money? 800 seems reasonable.

PSN please.

@Char: I'm not surprised, the insane amount of demand is the exact reason why I'm not surprised.

Hahahah, here I was in all my naïvity thinking "Well, it's a re-release with barely any extras. 400 would be fair but they will probably mark it up to 800. I'd still get it though." 1200 is obscene for this release.

Sounds to me like this will be hitting on PSN the 30th. Awesome. So long as it comes out this month I'll be real happy.

I don't know where all the shock of the 1,200 space bucks is coming from. The price for this game was confirmed by Capcom the day they announced the game.

Considering the ps2 and xbox disc versions of this still cost 80$ or more, 1200 MS aero space credits is more than a fair price.

the price is a rip!

capcom are shagging everyone up the ass un-lubed. that crapola with the dlc for street fighter was designed by Hitlers moldy zombie ass corpse, and now 1200 points for this. i'm gonna buy it, but i'm not happy.

That's my birthday! My sister and I both turn 22! It's going to be great, as I can get presents, then turn around and buy MvC2!

Happy 22 to me. Also, could it be that there is no demo on the 360 as this game is an Arcade game, and Arcade games don't have demos before release?

Holy shit. That's my birthday too! Hopefully I'll have enough money saved up to get a new TV and enjoy the delicious 2D-fighter goodness.

@ smang

If you buy it, then you have no right to complain. Only by not buying it can you send a message, though in all honesty, it probably won't be heard. I have no problem with $15 for a great game, so I'm putting down the money for it.

1200? Maybe if it had been given the Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix but since that isn't the case I'll pass.

I'm sure enough people will buy it that they won't consider making future releases 800 points. Hah, and how many people laughed when someone said that 1200 would slowly become the norm?

Yeah, this is still cheaper than a hard copy for the Xbox or PS2. And I really want to get the retail package for the PS3, even though the game itself is only a download code.
JLanphear's Avatar
JLanphear at 07/09/2009 15:33
Is the 360 going to be receiving its own retail package for this?

And srsly, this is ridiculous. BlazBlue, KOFXII, and now MvC2. I'M GONNA DIE HERE GAIZ.

1200 seems a bit much, so i will vote with my wallet.

Also, Wolverine's leg looks delicious. Put some seasoning on that, bake @ 200C for 90mins and you got yourself a dinner.
