Marvel vs. Capcom 2 coming to retail? photo

GameStop has a listing up for a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Retail Pack. It's going to go for $19.99, $5 more than what the downloadable title will sell for. It looks like it's only going to be available for the PlayStation 3 and the Retail Pack is set to include:

  • Redemption code for Marvel vs. Capcom 2
  • DVD case with sleeve
  • DVD with exclusive artwork such as wallpapers, icons, art, trailers and screenshots
  • Eight page color manual with artwork and moves list
  • One month subscription to Marvel Digital Comics valued at $9.99
  • 2000 Capcom-Unity points that can be used for prizes and auctions

The GameStop listing has the game dated for August 13, which may or may not be correct. Last we heard, the game was supposed to be coming out on June 29, which still may be the case. The Retail Pack may just be coming out at a later time.

We've gotten in touch with Capcom to see what they have to say and to see how curleh their mustaches are.

$20? Is that what the download going to be? I really hope not. I guess I shouldn't complain when the retail game for the PS2 is like $90, but that's a bit for a downloadable title.

I was checking out the release date before on wikipedia... Don't ask. The ps3 version isn't listed at all but the 360's is listed as June 29th. So... Yeah.

@akuma
Haha your username contains "Akuma", of course you'd be excited for a Capcom fighter! I was checking it out earlier today too!

I'm getting the PS3 version no doubt: f the 360 dpad, and f if I'm shelling out $100+ for a "good" joystick.

I never pay for Special Edition stuff for art and shit, but this might be an strong exception. I love the crossover art.

Not surprising. I don't know about Sony, but doesn't Microsoft get about 70% take in all download purchases on LIVE?.... It's no wonder they are doing a retail version. Yet, no 360 version? Sonys take on downloadable games must be like 90%! lol!

Kabuto Drew: The retail copy is just a download code and some extra stuff.

Oh........ looks like I took this as a literal copy of the game. Well, while I still agree with what I said, I guess an empty game box is the next best thing.... Kinda, :) lol,

- Buying you digital downloads in boxes now, DIDN'T SEE THAT ONE COMING!!! HA-HA! HA!

The artwork and icons are really the only things that appeal to me, so I guess I'm not missing out on too much with the 360 version. That, and I'd probably be too lazy to go out to the GameStop to pick this up.

@Hamza

Ah, okay, that makes more sense.

For an extra $5, this actually doesn't sound bad at all... I'm all for retail over downloads...

GameStop has taken the product off their site, it seems, as the link is broken.
