Marvel Ultimate Alliance H/V pack cheaper, also old photo

Sorry for the relevance shocker, earlier today. Microsoft’s actual Deal of the Week is for Marvel Ultimate Alliance. This week only, you’ll be able to nab the Hero/Villian pack for 560 Microsoft Points instead of the usual 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. That’s a savings of, um, Points...

The pack adds eight total characters to the game: Cyclops, Doctor Doom, Hawkeye, The Hulk, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Sabretooth, and Venom. As you may have observed, it’s split 50/50 between heroes and villains.

The DLC originally hit in May 2007, so this week’s deal is just a tad dated. Still, though, DLC rarely comes cheap. Grab it while it’s lukewarm.

I'd rather just pick up the Gold Edition of the game and save some HDD space

Don't worry, Brad. You did good!

And yeah, what Jawmuncher said.

I thought that said HIV pack for a second.

If you play the game frequently and have points to burn, I'd recommend getting this. Dr. Doom is a fucking BEAST and can immobilize 3-4 guys at a time with his laser thingy.

Stupid.

Old DLC for a game that barely anyone plays anymore is just evil on Microsoft's part. They need to start putting up some DLC or Arcade games that people will actually, I don't know, buy?

Also what Jawmuncher said... I'm pretty sure you can find the gold/platinum editions for dirt cheap now.

I've been looking out for the Gold Edition for a while now, but I've never been able to find them in any game stores while on numerous trips.

This would be appealing if I didn't know MUA2 is around the corner

I've just started playing through this again with a friend, hoping to beat it for the first time... but this is a shitty deal. This DLC pack is so old, it deserves to be slashed in price permanently, not temporarily, and it needs to be 400 or cheaper for me to even consider.

Economics 101 should tell Microsoft that older games are far lower in demand, so no one is going to continue paying day-1 prices for this ancient DLC, especially after it gets put on a horrible less-than-half-off-"sale".

These weekly deals would be absolutely perfect if they were permanent price changes every week for older material - which is how physical media is sold: always dropping in order to sell.

Old game is old. Plus with the sequel coming out, why bother playing this game?

*cough* I'd buy it, if I wouldn't posses already a copy, and to be fair it's a good game. The only thing is, that the DLC is to pricey for a game that you can pick up in its entirety for ten bucks. Did you ever played it, Logic?

I would say go get the gold edition. Shit, it came packaged with most 360s back in the day, didn't it?

But this game is sweet and this dlc was AWESOME. (WHEN IT WAS NEW)

Nowadays it's just old. The DLC is pretty beastly though. Not worth the price though. I mean, gold edition is what, $5?

Great game, but yet it is a shitty deal and what is with the old shit? First a Crackdown theme and now this? WTF?

I tracked down and bought the Gold Edition so this is not needed for me.

I swear the deals of the week are either totally badass or totally useless. Guess we get another useless one this week.

The fact that any DLC for games older than 1 year is still full price is awful.

All DLC should eventually become free.

I've been playing UA again recently, and still love the game, but there's no way I'd spend that much on this pack. I've gone without this long, and the sequel is on it's way, so screw this.

@JamnOnTheOne - I completely agree that DLC needs to depreciate in value. It's absolutely ridiculous to the point of being absurd that almost every single item on all of XBL is still the same price it was when initially released.

@Tino - My 360 came bundled with Marvel:UA and Forza 2, but it was not a gold edition. =/ Luckily, you can still access the characters if you're playing co-op with someone who does have the DLC.

Still, I wish the regular DLC price were 400, and the sale were 200. With a sequel on the horizon, I have no real incentive other than very cheap prices to buy this DLC, and 560 of my points is not enticingly low.

The fact that this is the "Deal of the Week" makes it all the more pathetic.

When this came out people weren't playing the game anymore. I highly doubt this will be worth it, since there will not be anyone to play with online anyway. Terrible choice for a discount. Terrible.

If they're gonna dig up old DLC, at least they could let me get Samurai Warriors 2 XL for something a bit less than the absurd 2400 points it still costs...

I got mine for far less, like $15. So no problem here.

I'm guessing this was when the gold edition first came out? Apparently now its a rare item. Really pissed me off, as I tried to buy it a couple months ago, and ended up getting the regular edition cause it would be much cheaper to do that and pay for the DLC than buy the gold.
