Actor Charles Martinet, the man behind the voice of Mario, has revealed that he's working on an autobiography. The book, which Marninet hopes to have ready for a 2008 release, will focus on his time working with Nintendo.
"I've actually started working a little bit on a book," he tells CVG, "but it's about finding the discipline to keep going. But I will be inspired [to finish it] by the fans."
As the voice of the one of the most iconic characters of our time (next to Mr. Destructoid, of course), an autobiography could provide a good deal of insight on what it's like to work for the videogames giant. We would also like to request that Martinet explain why Mario has an Italian accent, when we've all been given the impression that he was a plumber from Brooklyn. As far as we can tell, it was unlikely that Mario was born in Italy, and the only time he visited the country was in Mario is Missing. We can't imagine he picked up the accent in the short amount of time he spent there. It just makes no sense.
Additionally, we'd appreciate it if Martinet could also speak a bit on whatever medical condition he has that causes him to give the "thumbs up" every time a camera flashes. Do a search for Martinet on Flickr, and you'll see what I mean. It's downright bizarre.
Do not go NEAR THIS MAN!
Also, from the side he looks a bit like a young Marshall Applewhite.
riding on the hype of Galaxy's success
"It's a me, Mario!"
"I am Legend" :p
That would be awesome! And at the same time we would all hate it about a quarter of the way into it.
He'd be cool to meet but I have no need to read the man's autobiography
Rather than asking why Mario's got an Italian accent, I'd prefer to know why after more than twenty years of being an adult, Mario still has not gone through puberty.
Dude he has a fucking Mustache! Hes definitely got the forest of love down below...
Is it just me or does the Galaxy Mario sound more high-pitched and annoying then the Sunshine or 64 Mario?
Also, according to EP's segment they did on him a while ago, Charles is a narcissist.

" IT'S A ME MAARIO, A THANK YOU FOR A READING MY BOOK, YAHOOOOOO!!!"
The writing looks AMAZING.
Seperated at birth?
Also, Mario will always have the voice from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show in my head. Did Lou Albano also do the voice acting, or just the live action bits? Either way, that voice just makes more sense to me.
Cause thumbs-up are awesome.
I mean, Mario is awesome and all, and I guess he did kind of a great job on his voice but... He's just creepy. He seems all slimy and sleek, kinda like a toad. A big, lazy, pale toad that's been sitting under this money-printing stone for ages, sucking up all the drops of awesomness thats been sprinkled on him by Nintendo.
Uëgch.
