Mario Hoops was by SE and it was actually rather fun on the DS, so I'll keep this in mind. It also had the most wacky soundtrack I had heard in a game since Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 in the way it sort of clashed but still worked.
That said, I'll never understand the desire for a sequel to Super Mario RPG that doesn't involve Sakaguichi and Uematsu. They're kinda not with Square-Enix anymore and with Mistwalker making The Last Story with Nintendo right now.
I'll take that instead.

Also, Square Enix did a decent job with Mario 3vs3 Basketball on the DS. I enjoyed the game a lot though it's probably not everyone's cup of tea.

I doubt this game is aimed at serious sports fans. I'm basing that off of the fact that it's.. you know.. a mario game.

I love how most stuff that comes to Europe first is the stuff I don't really care about.
I remember when this happened with Brawl. We had to wait months before we got it, but according to most message boards "You Europes shouldn't complain, because we're still waiting for Mario Kart!"
Cue Mario Kart coming out three weeks after the EU version, and EU still waiting for Brawl for two months.
And here we go, waiting for Kirby's Epic Yarn (which will release in 2011, late march last I heard >.>). But hey, at least we have Mario Sports Mix, right?

I don't know if I should be excited for this. I enjoy Mario sports games, but Mario Hoops was not very good in my opinion. It felt particularly shallow, even for an arcade-ish sports game, and the touch controls were not that good. Oh well, who knows, it might be fun, and it has online.

It's a Toad and a Moogle teaming up against a Behemoth from Final Fantasy. Wacky "Battle System" aside, it's a combination of my 2 favorite things. It makes the fact that this isn't an epic RPG collaboration hit harder than ever. I'll still play this.

I love Mario Sports games. Square did a good job of the DS version. I thought it was fun anyway. I'll at least give it a rental.
Yeah, ShadeofLight said it before I did. Matt, be quiet, you guys have got Kirby's Epic Yarn. We STILL don't have a date for it. You're whining because a game that's not out for two months, and doesn't look any good, doesn't yet have a release date in the US? It's got Basketball in it, it'll be out in the US round about the same time. Meanwhile we'll still probably have to wait for one of the most fun Nintendo games of the year.
I have a bunch of friends same as game amateurs as I am. We always go for <a href="https://www.tomwaterhouse.com/sports.asp">sports betting</a> on week-ends. It`s actually pretty cool because it keeps spirits up between us and there is always this trace of competition between us, which it makes it funny, but we exercise our skills and we`re for the winning. I can`t imagine why would they ban it on us. Age limitation, I get it. But no banning, hopefully. It`s funny when you play it for yourself, but it`s always far more interesting when you bet over a higher external stake.
