Here's some short footage from
Mario Party 8 for the Wii. The quality isn't all that great and there really isn't much to see, so don't get your hopes high. This is just here to arouse your party gland.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I really like the screen transition effect at around 00:16, though.
Hush, while I do worry about the long term prospects about mini-game-itis on the Wii, this is what Mario Party is. Minigames. It's what Super Monkey Ball and Wario Ware are known for. Blame the success of those titles on the GC/GBA for the rampant minigame fever that's on the Wii. I think there's more than enough titles on the other end though to think that it's overly cautious to state that it's nothing but minigames. We've got two FPS (though really shitty ones), driving games, an RPG, a few platformers, and a bunch of sports titles.
What we don't have that I think would be a good system seller for the non-gamer are more exploration titles. Elebits is about as close as it comes since you have to tear apart enviroments to find your goals. But think about how well a Maniac Mansion or Full Throttle type game would do on this platform... Yeah.
