Map editor and image tool coming to PC version of Braid photo

Jonathan Blow is going to give people the opportunity to make their own Braid. In a recent message board thread asking about a "hidden” map editor in the PC version of Braid, the creator confirmed that a map editor and image importer are on the way after he hammers out some of the bugs players are experiencing with the game.

“Yeah, after I get a new version out in a few days that fixes the problems some people are having, and when more people have played/finished the game, I am going to post some documentation for the editor,” Blow wrote.

“The way it works is you can make levels with the editor (up to a full game, potentially) and run that with -universe later ... also a tool will be released that lets you take Photoshop files and import them into the game, if you want to put new graphics in your levels.”

So, there you go. Now you’ll have a chance to make an even more obscure game that no one can wrap his or her head around. Note to creators: don’t reproduce Braid’s last level. My brain still feels mushy after playing through it.

Some kind of customization would be much appreciated on the 360 for people that already bought his game last year, instead of just rewarding the tens of thousands of people who torrent his product on PC.

So is this really that great? I might have to pick it up on Steam. Level creation is totally my thing.

Wow. I just beat it and it was amazing... How am I supposed to make something that could possibly be comparable? I wonder if there is any freedom to make or change the powers? man this is crazy!

Plenty of people buy their games on PC you know Noah, don't be a dick. Oh and the fact that you've got a 360 should tell you enough about the likelihood of user generated content.

That's true Timmeh but Noah is right, chances are a lot of people are just gonna download it, I mean look at world of good, that was what? 5 bucks? And people torrented the hell out of it.

And yea, MS doesn't allow user generated content because someone will ALWAYS try to do something stupid and ruin it for everybody, there's a reason why LBP's moderation system is so strict and its because of people who vastly overestimate just how funny they are.

@Timmeh

Unless you believe that there are only several thousand PC gamers, no where in my post did I accuse all PC gamers of downloading their games. I've always made a point to not be a prick on the internet, not use vulgarity and not call people out for fun(troll)
I don't appreciate being called a dick by an internet tough guy

Flock, Lode Runner, even the community game Carnyvale Showtime include a level creator to name a few. Is it so unreasonable to suggest that They can release a level creator (minus the photoshop file importing) as DLC for Braid on 360? I'd even throw down a few extra bucks if they wanted to charge for it....at least give me the option. Braid is already one of the few great Arcade titles that has zero DLC

Guys, the map editor is already a part of the game. It's just there's no documentation for it yet.

@Noah, it isn't going to happen. Custom content is so needlessly restricted on the 360 it'd be pointless. Until they allow ALL games to let users share content freely, it isn't going to happen. Halo 3 has come the closest, and I suspect they had to pull a few strings to get it to happen.

Not to mention, I doubt many people would be able to get their head around the editor. It's not user friendly.

Don't reproduce Braid's last level? That's like, the best level in the game!
