Manhunt 2 coming to the PSP, PS2, and brace yourself, the Wii photo

Yes, you read that right. Rockstar is finally releasing a super violent game for a Nintendo console.

Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. is proud to announce Manhunt 2 for the PlayStation 2 system, PSP system, and Nintendo's Wii(TM). Manhunt 2 is the debut title from the newly formed Rockstar London studio, which is developing the game in conjunction with series creator Rockstar North. The Wii(TM) version is being developed by Rockstar Toronto. Manhunt 2 will be available this summer.

Can you imagine the possibilities?! Sneaking up behind an enemy and using the Wiimote and Nunchuk to strangle someone? Or jabbing the Wiimote to simulate stabbing a guy with a knife? Or using the the Wiimote in a striking motion as you beat a guy up with a baseball bat? I can go all day thinking about how they can pull off kills using the Wiimote. Wow ... I sound like a psycho.

God, Manhunt was the only game I've ever played that I had to stop playing because it creeped me out so much, I never made it past the second level because of it.

I'm definitely buying it for the Wii, and I'll probably have the same reaction all over again :(

just imagine smothering somebody with a plastic bag. Stabbing them in the side, then TWISTING the blade. Oh, it makes me happy.

The things they could do with the Wii controller...

Exactly my thoughts JJ. Murder simulation just got more real.

On the other hand, it will be nice to use the plastic bag on someone without being in any physical danger.

Well, if Manhunt can get a sequel, then it makes me believe that a sequel for Bully is possible. Let's just hope its not 4 year after the fact.

"Rockstar is finally releasing a game for a Nintendo console. "

This is not their first game on a Nintendo console.

Well, based on the interactivity track record thus far with third party games on the Wii, we'd be lucky if swinging the wii-mote will register anything more than an axe chop.

And subnet6 is right.

Smuggler's Run was released on the GC previously.

Yeah, I own smugglers run for my cube. It always seemed odd to see that rockstar logo at bootup, but it was a fun game.

I'm starting to fear that Jack's argument for video games train killers will gain more backing with this release on the Wii. Although logic will be defiled again since using a knife and a bat are pretty common knowledge.

A game on the PS2, the PSP, and the Wii? How often are odd mutli-platform games like that good?

I remember there being concern over the amount of detail in the gore that could be rendered on a next-gen system.

Hyper detailed entrails FTW.

While I've never played the first one, I'm glad to see Rockstar supporting the Wii. Manhunt 2 for the Wii? Time for Family Game Night!

This has the potencial to be so great. All my murderous fantacies have a healthy outlet! Hooray!

Now if they can just make it somewhat playable, I'll be set.

Hmm.. sorry but I just can see the Wii thing happening, if you havent visited the website apparently you ARE a serial killer, the site shows scenes from the guy you play scaping from a mental asylum and offing guards and some random girl.

Apparently Manhunt 2 (specially in the Wii) is ACTUALLY a murder simulator (ala postal). No offense guys but this is just seems a bit too much for my taste. I'll pass.

But Seriosuly guys, this for the Wii? _not_ _a_ _chance_ thats the console that forced the friend codes down
our throats to stay family friendly remember? Some other M game maybe, but this? no way.

Nintendo has painted itself in a corner with their Wiimote functionality and the anti game violence mob in America, all it takes is one (1) Mom spotting little Jhonny doing a Stabbing motion on the Wiimote to off some virtual dude, and Nintendo is in more trouble than they ever bargained for.

Btw, wheres the godfather for the Wii? wasnt that supposed to come out around february?

This is probably the third biggest surprise for me since Snake's appearance on SSBB and DQIX on DS. Unfortunately, I never cared for Manhunt but the significance of Rockstar actually making a game for Wii (since Smuggler's Run on the Cube) could be big. Hopefully it'll turn out well (for any of you interested in it). Personally, what I really want is a GTA-ish gameplay but with more of a Max Payne style (as oppose to playing some criminal intent to do crimes) or perhaps a detective game where you run around the city solving crimes or perform car chases.

Welcome to the new world order - PS2 & Wii as the last gen tier, PC & 360 & PS3 as the next gen tier. Wii owners, congratulations you're going to have a lot of crappy PS2 ports to look forward to. At least you have Nintendo 1st party content to smother the market and ensure 3rd parties stay well clear once the PS2 titles start to dry up.

So the world is not ready for next gen, seeing that both PS2 and the Wii outsold the PS3 and the X360 on the last months.

Nothing bad can come of this. Nothing...except lawsuits. . .and maybe Hillary Clinton using this as a platform on her presidental run and new laws being passed about game violence. . .

It's not like this is the first M rated game on a Nintendo system. Conker's Bad Fur Day? Eternal Darkness? Resident Evil 1/0/4 anyone? The whole Nintendo censorship thing hasn't really been applicable since the SNES days.

Rockstar London is heading up the overall game concept developement and the ps2 version while rockstar Toronto is heading up the wii version. Wether the game ends up being crappy or not, it still shouldn't be called a crappy "ps2 port" imho. Crappy ports are when only one team works on all version or when the other team is merely handling recoding and nothing more?
