Triforce, the plucky young maniac who is already standing in line for a Nintendo 3DS, had his efforts scuppered on day two of his vigil, when a new shift of Best Buy workers refused to understand his activities.
His explanations fell on deaf ears, with staff members claiming he was loitering. They eventually called the NYPD, who moved him on and told him he couldn't wait outside Best Buy anymore. That seemed to work for a short while, as he simply waited on the other side of the street, and has now returned to his exalted place at the doors of Best Buy.
Triforce's current plan is to keep lining up and running away whenever suspicious Best Buy staff members turn up.
This is absurd, but you gotta respect the man's plucky determination. Best of luck to the guy! (Also, Destructoid gets namedropped in the video. Check it out!).
Has anyone suggested he gets a job or a hobby? Theres nobody else lining up, maybe thats a sign that its too early to line up.... How bored a society are we where 'something to do' or be 'dedicated to' is waiting for a product release to give our money up. Pretty laughable.
Honestly, even at a menial wage, four days of your time should be enough to pay even the worst ebay scalpers. Spend those 4 days enjoying life instead of being a pariah, setting back the cause of gamers respect.
I like his zip, zork, and kapowza! Personally, I've never waited in line to pick up a console or game at launch and I probably never will, but I appreciate his EXCITE. if that makes me a retard, tool, dumbass, fucktard then slap me silly and call me Suzy.
I waited in line for 4 days to get the original Xbox, then had to carry it the 70 miles back home then had to go back to get the cables. Uphill both ways naturally.
Damn kids and their online preorders. Get off my damn lawn.
He acknowledges in the video that he has his copy preordered. He doesn't care about that. He isn't worried about not getting his copy. You people are fucking dense as hell. It's his own little tradition that he's had for several years, at least since the Wii/PS3 launch.
Apparently, at least in NYC, at that store, there's special extra stuff that comes with being the first. It's like being the one to cut the ribbon or christen a ship before her maiden voyage. When he did this for the Wii, he met Reggie and got his console signed by the man. Being the first person (at least in a specific area) to own something major, or getting to meet somebody famous, or overcoming a challenge is a special feeling that apparently none of you joyless assholes have ever experienced.
Yes, it's all just VIDEOGAEMS. But who gives a shit? Let people have their fun and quit being jerks. He's passionate about video games, and I respect that. Why can't any of you?
I don't see what the big deal is. I see people camping out at best buy every time a system launches. It's not just one dude either. I'm talking 20+ with tents and all about a week before launch. I don't understand why this is creating such a buzz.
I remember this guy got the first US Wii sold to him by Reggie, and he was wearing a Power Glove. I figure he'd be waiting in line at the Nintendo World Store for this. Also, what does this guy do for a living?
Sometimes I wonder if I have anything at all in common with other gamers on the planet. These comments are mostly just awful... and that seems to be a growing trend around here.
Triforce is showing dedication and passion for gaming,We all share a love for gaming so why hate on each other. If you don't get why he's doing it,then why do you care enough to bitch about it?
I bet all the people whining and complaining and calling him dumb live in some po-dunk place like North Dakota, where no one waits outside to do anything...
