Alleged abuse leads to a physical condition

Police in Japan's Kyoto Prefecture have arrested a man for allegedly forcing his stepson to play Grand Theft Auto for hours at a time. According to the allegation, 28-year-old Maasa Kawabata would wait until the boy's mother, Kawbata's wife, would leave the house, then force the nine-year-old to play hour-long stretches. It is also alleged that Kawabata would subject the child to slew of verbal insults including calling him an idiot and moron, in addition to telling to boy to kill himself.

The boy's mother, who married Kawabata in October, began to suspect something, moving herself and her son out of the house after her son began to complain about headaches, nausea, and stomach pains. Doctors have now diagnosed the boy with Dysautonomia, a condition that alters body functions such as heart rate, digestive movements, and blood pressure; an alleged result of the boy's stress and mental abuse during these play session.
