Anyone following the pre-release Super Street Fighter 4 beat knew that Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike fan-favorites Ibuki, Makoto, and Dudley were going to be included in the SSF4's roster. But now it's uber-confirmed courtesy of the latest issue of Famitsu, which features the three characters in its pages.
In the latest magazine scans, courtesy of I Play Winner, we see Makoto and Dudley in several smaller panels. The sultry Ibuki gets the star treatment with larger shots. We can't read the pages, but we can at least observe one thing: these formerly 2D fighters are looking good.
I doubt any game could look as good as Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, but I'm impressed. I'll be even more so if Ibuki and Makoto still have their special pre-fight banter. Then, I'll truly have no reason to complain about SSF4.
Ibuki, Makoto and Dudley confirmed for Super Street Fighter 4 [I Play Winner, thanks everyone!] [image cred]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, rape.
Makoto is my gal!
Well, as long as Sagat is nerfed.
Derp.
Either way, two more months until this comes out, can't wait. Aside from the Arabic grappler Hakan, is there anything else from the original rumor leak that hasn't been confirmed yet? I wonder if they're keeping any more secrets.
I hate you capcom
I love the game
I hate the Delay QQQQQQQQQQ
Yup.
Looks like "Corkscrew Blow" is coming back!
As a treat this game gets a few tiny shreds of Third Strike's awesomeness so that people will curiously check it out and realize what a better game it is.
Damnit, Ibuki, I have nothing but hate for you!
Still, new 3D Makoto is better than no new Makoto at all.
SEY. SEEEEEEEY
As a dedicated fighting game fan and even more so a Street Fighter fan I can easily say that 4 is better game than Third Strike even if you like Third Strike's art more than 4's 3D.
Also Megaman went back to 2D because it failed horribly in 3D, Street Fighter is flourishing in 3D, get used to it. Not to mention that KoFXII showed that going the sprite route is pretty stupid, even if it does please some nostalgic fans.
Fuck year Dudley/Makoto 4 lyfe.
Also, this got announced on September 24th of last year. Just sayin.

And yeah, these characters have been rumored for a while, but this is the first time we've seen them.
@ Kefkaesque- KoFXII looked pretty awesome. My guess is that the reasons it didn't sell have less to do with the graphics, and more to do with --
1) No Mai
2) Weak online
3) No new characters
4) Small roster compared to prior KoF(s)
4) No Mai
That is kinda why I wanted her in SFIV. She has a fighting style that is more unique than Dudley or Ibuki's and would lend some diversity to matches.
Course I was also hoping for R. Mika, but that was more for the obvious reasons.
" Not to mention that KoFXII showed that going the sprite route is pretty stupid, even if it does please some nostalgic fans"
Blazblue did the unthinkable with 2D sprites apparently
bodybodybodybody
bodybodybodybody
U P P E R C U T !
yeah blazeblue did the impossible and kof graphics were good its just had a bad character roster and not many favorites and no new characters ( wait a minute that all has to do with characters and thats the one reason i didn't buy it)
I mean how can you not have mai, king or yuri when they were in the first kof.
Yeah, I'd agree except that you forgot that BlazBlue, hands down 2009's BEST fighting game (SF4 doesn't compare) was 2D-sprite based.
On topic though, Makoto? Dudley? Ibuki? FUUUUUUUCK YEEEESSSSSS. Oh it's been far too long Makoto!
Now for the bad news according to keno a top balrog player the tiers will be all over the place. Seth is better. Sagat has more options. And there will be 8-2 matchups :(
Also, Dudley vs Balrog FTW. I can definitely see a Dudley and Balrog rival match here :D
Except that technically, even though it's 2D, BlazBlue doesn't use sprites. "Doesn't use sprites" as in "there is no pixel found". If i remember correctly, Blazblue's characters are in vector art. You know, what's used in flash etc.
Oh, and I like SF4s artstyle. I think it looks great in motion. Also, the 3 characters look great. They've added some for real screenshots there. Can't wait.
Well, we've got 3 of the 4 remaining characters down. That just leaves Hagga-er, I mean Hakan..........*bursts into tears*
