Looks like there is good news for Gears of War fans who think they have what it takes to go up against the best players out there; and for those who have ambitions of one day becoming professional gamers themselves. Major League Gaming has announced what everyone (and Cliffy B.) have been waiting for: We heard you loud and clear: MLG is proud to announce that we have been able to secure Gears of War for the 2007 Boost Mobile Pro Circuit! Gears will debut June 8-9 at the MLG Meadowlands regular season event. As one of the hottest games out there and part of MLG’s Online Tournaments, Gears of War has made waves in the competitive gaming world for months and, starting tonight, you can register for the Meadowlands and compete to become the very first pro gamers for Gears of War. Polish your chainsaw and shake the rust off your shotgun because Gears of War is coming to the Boost Mobile MLG Pro Circuit and you won’t want to miss your chance to compete!
Over the course of the 2007 Boost Mobile MLG Pro Circuit, we will be awarding over $140,000 in Gears of War prize money and pro player benefits, with the National Championship first place prize weighing in at $25,000! If you somehow have feeling left in your fingers from playing the Halo 3 beta the past few days, you might want to consider resting them for a bit, and getting yourself psyched up for potentially becoming the very first Gears of War champion ever. With the newfound fame and cold hard cash, you might even be able to finally afford that PlayStation 3 you've had your eye on. You can register for the event here. [via AmpedeSports]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
