Majesco announces JAWS games for 3DS and Wii photo

Just when you thought it was safe to play videogames on Nintendo products, Majesco has announced today that it will be publishing JAWS: Ultimate Predator for 3DS and Wii. Majesco previously published JAWS Unleashed for PlayStation 2 and Xbox back in 2006 where it was met with lukewarm reviews. As in that game, both new titles will see players controlling the massive great white shark ruling the ocean with attack combos and ferocity.

The 3DS version of JAWS: Ultimate Predator is being developed by n-Space, the studio responsible for the brilliant 2006 game Geist. Over on the Wii side, development will be handled by Tectonic Studios.

A game where I control JAWS with 3D visuals does sound appealing. But it isn't really JAWS to me unless the shark explodes at the end, preferably for no logical reason other than the idea of an exploding shark is awesome. I can't see that being the conclusion the developers have in mind.

Well, thank god. The 3DS title drought is officially over.

Though, really, when has a Great White shark ever needed a combo? Isn't the "bite in half" attack usually a one hit kill?

Who remembers how much of a PAIN IN THE ASS it was to flash/stab jaws during those fps-ish segments of the NES jaws game?

3DS was never in a drought. If you want to know what a real drought is just look at the PSP (outside of JPN of course).

I rather enjoyed Jaws: Unleashed. That having been said, I will be keeping a close eye on this one.

I remember playing Jaws and swimming around with a dog in my mouth. I swam close to the shore and flung the dog's body at sun bathers. It was a good day to be a shark.

I don't know why the announcement of this makes me want to give Jaws: Unleashed a try, but I think I'll grab it and keep an eye on these.

I guess they don't learn from Failure. They have some serious balls to try again.

@Kamui: Actually, Jaws Unleashed is PS2 Greatest Hits title, so it must have sold decently.

In all seriousness, I expect this will be shovelware. Hoping desperately to be wrong.
