Pre-order bonuses. Every big-name game has to have them, and they rarely come much bigger than the 256-player FPS MAG. A number of pre-order items will be coming to Massive Action Game, both for use with the game itself and PlayStation Home. Let's look at what's up for grabs.
Those who pre-order the game will be able to choose their very own unique character belonging to one of the game's three factions. S.V.E.R fans can choose a Hazard Trooper with a "Hazard Camo Pattern, Hazard Improved Ballistic Vest, and the Hazard Improved Helmet." Raven players can get a Spyder Operative with a "Spyder Camo Pattern, Spyder Reinforced 2nd Gen Composite, and Spyder Reinforced 2nd Gen Helmet." Finally, those loyal to Raven can get a "Bulldog Camo Pattern, the Bulldog Mk 2 Reinforced Fiber, and the Bulldog Mk 2 Helmet."
In addition, pre-orders will also be rewarded with the S.V.E.R personal Home space for use within the PS3's Second Life clone. Qore subscribers will also be able to get into the MAG beta with their pre-orders.
So, exciting stuff for what is hopefully going to be a brilliant game. It's out on January 26, 2010. Will it threaten to beat Killzone 2 as my favorite shooter? We shall see.

you actually wasted the space on your PS3 for Home? FISSION MAILED.
I have high hopes for MAG!
Since it's update's it's working perfectly and is my top shooter so far this gen for sure......
until MAG I reckons.
When you boot up the game you choose a faction and you're stuck with it for the rest of the game, and yes, there are differences... ( SVER is more powerful, Raven is more precise, Valor has better non-gun skills)
Like Endwar, there will probably be a system where you can change faction but it will involve a loss of experience or something. - Perhaps it's not in the beta, but I really would doubt they're going to make you stick to your initial selection in the full retail version.
Although to be honest, i wouldn't mind being a full time, permanent member of a faction myself. I reckon I'm go SVER.
You can delete you character and make a new one from the scratch, but that way you'll lose everything you did so far... (and I can see a clear disadvantage for Valor, since they don't look as badass as Raven or SVER, they should make you change faction in each match, like a normal FPS IMO...)
As for needing to delete you character, I suppose that's what i mean by loss of experience. But as long as I am able to use all of the game's factions I'm happy.
But, how do you know? like i say the beta might have faction swapping and stuff removed from it? Like Endwar, you lose all experience, but if you join the faction with least players you get a sign up bonus. I'd imagine it would be like that, but i wouldn't know because i've not played the finished retail game.
If they indeed lose experience, the faction switch level reset along with the level 40 cap maybe this games 'prestige mode.' It'd be actually cool, it would be more than just a masochistic reset, when you get tired of playing that faction, you could do the switch for a style change..
