MAG gets pre-order bonuses photo

Pre-order bonuses. Every big-name game has to have them, and they rarely come much bigger than the 256-player FPS MAG. A number of pre-order items will be coming to Massive Action Game, both for use with the game itself and PlayStation Home. Let's look at what's up for grabs.

Those who pre-order the game will be able to choose their very own unique character belonging to one of the game's three factions. S.V.E.R fans can choose a Hazard Trooper with a "Hazard Camo Pattern, Hazard Improved Ballistic Vest, and the Hazard Improved Helmet." Raven players can get a Spyder Operative with a "Spyder Camo Pattern, Spyder Reinforced 2nd Gen Composite, and Spyder Reinforced 2nd Gen Helmet." Finally, those loyal to Raven can get a "Bulldog Camo Pattern, the Bulldog Mk 2 Reinforced Fiber, and the Bulldog Mk 2 Helmet."

In addition, pre-orders will also be rewarded with the S.V.E.R personal Home space for use within the PS3's Second Life clone. Qore subscribers will also be able to get into the MAG beta with their pre-orders.

So, exciting stuff for what is hopefully going to be a brilliant game. It's out on January 26, 2010. Will it threaten to beat Killzone 2 as my favorite shooter? We shall see.

That only 1 character per-account thing is BS, if it was not bull enough now you have to choose you faction even before you get the game?

I want 255 close friends with PS3s as a per-order bonus. That'd be much more useful.

You're cool. Making fun of home is so original. It might not be what was promised in the begining but it is promising and always growing so it might become more fun. I'm going for the home space just because the costumes are dumb and people won't even know that it's special when they play you online (plus I've got tons of home rewards and preorder bonuses for home so I might as well get this too).

I have a feeling Halo: Reach is going to be M$'s answer to M.A.G.

Must say Home is shaping up. The biggest problem is character movement. It needs to allow running in some spaces.

Home is ok, I'm not sure if it's all worth it though. The only interesting thing I find on there is the poker tables at the EA space but theres only 3 freaking tables.

I am so excited about this game I'm pre-ordering it regardless of any treats.

so I don't get it- do you add the faction to a psn account or is there a separate mag account that you need to get and will it be a monthly charge? because that would be a deal breaker for me

Killzone 2 was my favourite shooter, until BF1943 came out. Then I realized, as a BF1942 player at heart, I was longing for a more tactical, less frag-festival game. Killzone 2 is the ultimate frag-fest, more so than COD4, because of its points scheme..

I have high hopes for MAG!

@ Emrah - Check oout Socom Confrontation! It's a long long way from a frag-fest and a totally tactical shooter.

Since it's update's it's working perfectly and is my top shooter so far this gen for sure......

until MAG I reckons.

When you boot up the game you choose a faction and you're stuck with it for the rest of the game, and yes, there are differences... ( SVER is more powerful, Raven is more precise, Valor has better non-gun skills)

I very much doubt you'll be stuck with your choice for the entire lifespan game!

Like Endwar, there will probably be a system where you can change faction but it will involve a loss of experience or something. - Perhaps it's not in the beta, but I really would doubt they're going to make you stick to your initial selection in the full retail version.

Although to be honest, i wouldn't mind being a full time, permanent member of a faction myself. I reckon I'm go SVER.

You can delete you character and make a new one from the scratch, but that way you'll lose everything you did so far... (and I can see a clear disadvantage for Valor, since they don't look as badass as Raven or SVER, they should make you change faction in each match, like a normal FPS IMO...)

I don't know Naim, I'm quite up for the whole sticking with a faction thing rather than the whole "faction-is-just-to-make-you-look-different-from-opponents" thing, makes it pointless, I mean you can play a game of any COD or Socom or Killzone and it doesn't make a shit of a difference what faction you are, you know. it's just looks.

As for needing to delete you character, I suppose that's what i mean by loss of experience. But as long as I am able to use all of the game's factions I'm happy.

But, how do you know? like i say the beta might have faction swapping and stuff removed from it? Like Endwar, you lose all experience, but if you join the faction with least players you get a sign up bonus. I'd imagine it would be like that, but i wouldn't know because i've not played the finished retail game.

Sexualchocolate: I think I'll wait for mag :)
If they indeed lose experience, the faction switch level reset along with the level 40 cap maybe this games 'prestige mode.' It'd be actually cool, it would be more than just a masochistic reset, when you get tired of playing that faction, you could do the switch for a style change..
